Why do people always make stupid comments like this about how a man getting raped in prison is somehow a good thing...

You wouldn't encourage men to rape other men outside of prison, so why would it be any different inside?

The fact that he's going away is punishment enough.

You're definitely right about the rape thing, just for the simple fact that there isn't nearly as much prison rape as people seem to think.

But, 6'1 245 isn't going to keep him safe in prison. There are some big motherfuckers that just pump iron all fucking day long. If they think he's still got some money out there and/or want to make a name for themselves he could still get fucked with. Depends on how strong his gang ties are to be honest.

In one way of thinking, I completely agree.

In terms of pure numbers, more men are raped in the United States each year than women, and [the completely fucked up system we have for] prisons are a big part of that.

Idiots, his last name is Hernandez. And he's a sports star. And he's huge. And he didn't molest any children [the people who actually get raped in prison]. So unless he's in Utah going to prison - he's going to have a lot of friends with the same kind of last names.

I worked with a guy for a while that did really bad things with kids, now he's got life at the worst prison in the sate with nearly 50,000 prisoners in a prison designed for 33k. He got his ass kicked pretty bad went he went to county, wonder how he's liking it now.
 
I could see him trying to appeal this. Apparently, the defense's closing argument was "baffling" and basically sealed his fate. They basically admitted that he was at the scene of the crime and tried to pin it on his friends....saying Hernandez was young and under the influence of PCP.
