and says that she cant get rid of the squatter unless she goes through the court system?????

does that mean you cant even leave your house to go grocery shopping cause meanwhile someone can just go in, say they are squatting and cops wont do anything?

Don't know about other cities, but in Vancouver there are "organizations" that "specialize" in unwanted tenant/squatter removal. The orgs either know how to tip-toe on the right side of the law and/or the police here don't really care about the rights of squatters.

Can't wait for there to be a show like Dog the bounty hunter but for taking this cunts out. I would definitely turn on the TV for this. "I LIVE HERE" "NO YOU DON'T BITCH"

Most squatters are cowards. They know they don't belong. They also know they're protected by law.

If you're trying to get a squatter off your property, and your "requests" for them to vacate have been ignored, it's time to negotiate. Put your firearm on your hip, pay him/her a visit, and make it clear you do not intend to go to the police or through the courts. Offer the squatter peace, and a safe departure if they leave that moment.

Don't pull your firearm unless forced. There's no need to brandish it to act like a tough guy. The point is to erode their confidence in the only protection they have faith in: the law.

If there are multiple squatters, don't go alone. Visit with "friends"; hire them, if necessary. And replace the firearm with less lethal tools, such as bats, crowbars, etc. The last thing you need is for a bunch of cowboys to pull their firearms and start waving them around.

Note: it always pays to talk first.

I understand how it can be done legally when taxes are delinquent. The way they made it sound was I pay the taxes on some random property and then I somehow get the deed.
Like I see you haven't paid the taxes yet on your house and you aren't delinquent. I go pay the taxes then I get a deed to your house in my name. I then proceed to tell you to
pay rent or gtfo.

In most cases there is a redemption period, usually 2-3 years. If they don't pay you back plus interest then you are given deed to the house. Most people aren't going to let their house get taken away from them for a couple of grand in back taxes though.

To expand on this - Yes, you can squat on a property in an "open and hostile" way which means you openly live their, get utilities, mail, etc or in the case of land or parts of land you openly place your fence around it and "use" it - whether for a driveway, dog houses whatever. If you do this and then also pay the taxes, openly, not in cash, but with a your checks, then there are certain rules that occur whereas you legally can take over as owner of the property after a certain number of years doing this

Now that is ownership and use and may not give you the ability to sell it or borrow against it without some title issues. But even those can possibly be legally cleared.

I only know a little about this so some of the above may not be perfectly accurate, but its basically correct.

If I were homeless, I'd squat. But I'd also keep it in good condition and pack my shit up and leave if the owner came around.

I feel obliged to point out that all the fronting in the video is exactly how better than half this forum behaves.

Apparently taking over land is called Adverse Possession.
