When I first started out with Adwords a few years ago, I knew nothing. I still know nothing compared to you guys but thats ok. Anyway.. Does Google still screw you with the Quality Score if you had shitty CTR from previous campaigns or is it per campaign basis?

Thanks:conehead:

Shit so How do I get a better Quality Score, I have to start out with a crap score.... how long does it usually take to go back up if you start a new campaign that is highly targeted?:crap:

Just use another domain.

I don't think you can tell your quality score without running a campaign.

Oh if its a different domain it changes to a brand new QS? Is the QS Domain specific?

Another questions - currently I use my debit card, that directly takes money out of my checking account when its time to pay Google for adwords... I kinda hate... How do you guys pay for your Adwords ads.. Do you have a debit card specific for Adwords and when you get a check from google you deposit it back into the same account that you pay for the ads with so you can keep track of what you spent and what you earned. I am afraid if I use a CC to pay for Google Adwords I might not use the check and pay off the card with it and Ill have huge interest fees... How do you guys figure all that out a far as costs and earning and paying back your debts with your earnings etc.... thanks

QS is specific to a domain, but your account has a QS as well. Simply switching to a new domain won't give your account a clean slate.

I honestly dont know what my QS is, if I start a new campaign will it show me my QS immediately, is there something I can read like one of these gay Adwords Ebooks that actually give me more info on this? Something that is good I mean... I already read Adwords Miracles which was pretty good, anything else? I need to learn a little more about Adwords and QS before I do this again... thanks.

First Point:

Please keep in mind that QS is a little like toolbar PR. Some of my most profitable keywords have a QS of POOR. I have spoken to an affiliate manager of a program that also has an inhouse staff to manage campaigns, and they agree this is very possible.

Second: Isn't QS tied to Keywords anyway?

I don't know about my account, but I know that when I start off with a brand new squeeky clean domain, the QS that I can only see as attached to my keywords, is usually very friendly.

If I use my oldest domain, and the one I used to use with Google with mediocre (awful) results, my QS starts off terminal.

As time passes with the newer domains, the keyword QS seems to fluctuate around day by day. Some of the QS drop, some maintain, but it looks pretty clearly tied to the keyword.

I guess you could even rehabilitate a domain, but it hardly seems worth it when domains are so cheap.

But really, get a cheap .info domain, and start a small adgroup with a few keywords and see what it looks like.

Also keep in mind that QS is partially out of your control. I have had it confirmed by Google reps that they also look at network performance. If nobody is generating clicks with certain keywords, you will start off damned.

The point? Most of us just start testing. Nobody here has a magic formula for getting cheap clicks. I sure don't, and I operate by paying more than most of you guys talk about. But in my main, niche that's just the way it is.

I too have some great performers that come back with poor quality score. Now for me, i may get a minimum bid of $0.40 with a poor score, but still have to bid >$1 relative to my niche to compete with the big boys and get in position 3-8.

If you are sending someone to a good site with a good page, then as long as you are not getting hit with $5 and $10 min bids (googles kind way of saying screw off), then you may just be in a competitive niche and not have enough history to get the super low cost per clicks.

the simple fact is that you are going to loose some money in the beginning when you are testing PPC. If you dont have a lot to play with, then STAY AWAY from the powerful niches (debt, ringtones, dating, mortgage, weight loss, software, etc.)

go for niches that you can afford to play in, or with your own product where you have super high margin.
