Hey everyone. I am completely new to these forums and have just started my research on SEO and affiliate marketing after noticing the profits that a lot of users around here have reported. I'm a little skeptical and sometimes wonder if this site is just one giant, clever, "get rich quick" scheme. I work a day job as a flash developer and web designer for decent money, but I want to step it up and ultimately quit in favor of being my own boss. While I can create kick ass websites, I've never once looked into the methods of properly monetizing one. I can easily design and set up blogs which leads me to believe that this will be a good path for me to go down.
To keep things short, I have some questions for those of you who would be kind enough to point me in the right direction.
Starting capital: $1-2k.
All the time in the world to dedicate.
One issue: I have horrible credit.
1. As I just stated, I have horrible credit as a result of some poor decisions I made in the past. Is this going to throw a wrench in any of this? Are there any services that I will need that do credit checks?
2. Can anyone reccommend any specific posts or other sites that will help me familiarize myself with common terms and acronyms used in the industry? Is there any specific starting points that are relevant and also recent?
3. While I'm a little hesitant to ask this, would anyone reccommend any books? I don't mind putting some cash down for a couple books at barns and noble or borders to help understand some of the basic concepts before I get started.
I have the dedication and time to do this right, I just need to know exactly what the fuck I need to get started reading.
