Alright, be honest. Who's legitimately happy?

A lot of those people aren't thinkers. They're followers. Sheep. Many call themselves "devotees".

Be very skeptical of anything that comes from Tamils, as a culture they are obsessed with collectivism & social status, fitting in as opposed to independent thought.

May be it's your personal prejudice about Tamils.

The only difference I see among Tamils is they are more conservative and concerned little bit more towards their "Tamil" identity and culture. However, it's same among the other (south) Indians too.

Ramana is incredible. He sat in the cave for like 15 years, 10 of which he was completely silent. Yet people have come to sit in his presence even when he was silent!

For me, it's not just about how long he sat in cave or his silent (I visited these caves two years ago when I made a pilgrimage to India though). My belief is that he's a self realized soul, the one who realized who he is (like Budha).

Keep your EGO in check, Ego is what drives it,

if you havent seen in the movie REVOLVER, you should, its all about EGO, watch the ending.

Just went from being some loser internet nerd to having a quality social and dating life. I'm a pretty happy motherfucker. Sorry your life sucks bro.

I'd say that I am a happy person because I heed the following advice:

"...even when a person has an abundance his life does not result from the things he possesses.... For where YOUR treasure is, there YOUR heart will be also."

I'm Tamil as well racially, and well acquainted with their bullshit. A violent, backward, repressed culture.

I am in Chennai now btw and been here since August. Without doubt the worst city I've ever been in. I've been to shitholes like Meerut and they are better than this place. It's the people that make it suck so much, not the cosmetic stuff like roads and infrastructure.

Happiness can not come from these people. That's all I wanted to say.

No and yes.

LOVE this as a hobby, keeps me occupied.
LOVE seeing the money roll in..
HATE the stress that's all on me to get things done.
Working full time at workplace, plus working full time online, it's a ton of work.
But love the fact that I'm not like everyone else (offline), trying to build a business and some day it might pay off and let me afford the luxuries in life I want.

you wouldn't have to tell us if that was really how you felt

sounds like you're just trying to convince yourself

get well soon

lebron james is better than michael jordan ever was. deal with it.

I used to work around 70 hrs a week busting my ass to make as much money as I could.

Now I work around 10 hrs a week, travel the world learning new languages and about different cultures.

I spend a lot less than travelling (like less than $50/day) than I did back home and I'm about 5000 times happier. Even though I am working way less, I'm actually able to save more due to my spending habits changing.

I am legitimately happy with everything but I can honestly say AAO will be my last business I'll be actively involved in. I may get into the silent angel investor side of things in a few years but I'm pretty done with the stress and pretty much everything you mentioned above involved in starting new projects. Its always fun starting a new business but after 5 in only 9 years the vanity has worn off.
This... stress kills if you cannot deal with it.
Want to retire in the next 5 years, after that I get to deal with the fun non biz stress like accidental babies :banana_sml:

I have been lucky to do well online for 16 years and I have bought just about every toy possible and dated many super hot bikinni models etc. Not gonna lie It took me a long time to balance my life and appreciate the people who really care and thats family. I dont pop bottles in clubs anymore to impress people who dont give a shit about you.

JUST BE HAPPY YOU HAVE YOUR HEALTH,FAMILY AND FOOD ON THE TABLE. PLUS i JUST LOVE TO FISH AND RIDE MY HARLEY ALOT NOW AND DAYS.

Most people "chase" happiness.
And, most people are addicted to happiness like a drug.

For anyone who is on Facebook, here's an example...I'm sure we've all seen it.
Girl or guy posts to their significant other "I love you so much, you are everything to me, blah blah blah". Then a week later, or a day later, you see their relationship status changed to "single".

So what happened?

In most cases, at least one of them is chasing happiness. So they'll move on to someone else, and eventually repeat the same example above, and it will continue over, and over, and over again until they learn that you can't chase happiness (some people never learn).

Now, this isn't just with relationships...for some people it's cars, others it's boats, houses, vacations, etc... These things are all like drugs, and eventually what you have just isn't enough, you need more. The minute you aren't happy, you go looking for your next fix.

And, when you look at how people are saturated (from birth) with marketing from every product under the sun, things you supposedly need to be happy....I see exactly why it happens. People want more, more, more and this attitude of "I must always be super happy" invades all areas of life.

I'm reminded of the story of the company that moved their product manufacturing offshore, and hired tribe members as workers. After they got their first paycheck, no one showed up to work the next week. So, company officials go to see what the problem is, and they are told that they don't need to work, because they have everything they need and want . . . why work? Well, the plant couldn't just sit idle, they had to figure this out. Someone at the company had the idea to send everyone in the tribe a mail order catalog . . . they all reported to work the next week. Now, I don't know if that's true or not, but regardless, the lesson behind it holds true.

Happiness is a result of living life the way you should and being content in your situation. It's a by-product, you can't "chase" it. Sure, you can get temporary happiness by chasing it...but never true long term happiness.
