Alternative To XMarkPro? Dead In The Water

Ouch, the new owner isn't going to like this thread much if it gets indexed.

I can tell you the new owner is more pissed off with the fact that you havnt provided the full set of files you agree to send over. you just resent the "open source" version i had already paid you for and received months ago.

The new owner is pissed that after about 15 emails to you there has been no reply now for over a week.

You havnt sent over the current client DB so we couldnt even help people even if we did have a working platform (which we dont) so there is no way to get people onto the new licensing and package manager system.

In fact to all intents and purposes it seems that now you have my 2k in your account there is no reason for you to be bothered about any of this at all.

Im hoping im wrong and there has been some sort of "misunderstanding" your end which will get solved soon and ill get the client db and mailchimp db so i can at the very least inform people that we are working on fixing any and all bugs and adding new features in the next months to make it a great system once again.

But to be honest I'm feeling scammed right now. so please do prove me wrong and make good on your end.

And as for your email to me telling me

Sorry for the slight delay, and no, my health is fine now. Just busy. As I mentioned at the beginning of this deal, I would leave to see it wrapped up by Sept 20th, as fall was upon us, which is the busy time. Kids are in school, weather is cold, and everyone's working. Nonetheless, I think I'm close to being out of the weeds now after my unexpected vacation, so should be around more, and will be back on Skype starting tomorrow probably
yeah im sorry i didnt get the payment through as quick as i would have liked. as we know there were some errors on your end which caused issues as well as mine.

But if you have time to make posts on here chatting about the software surely you can export a DB and send the thing in a zip file??

a) Tell everyone it's in the process of being sold, hence scaring them.

b) Wait for transition, and allow new owner to inform everyone it has been sold, and is now in good hands.

Take a wild guess at which I chose. That, and I did send out a mailing months ago informing everyone that it's winding down, so hopefully people will be happy knowing new owners will be at the helm shortly.

Great i hope they do know. no idea who "they" are though as i dont have the client info as agreed.

Just realized it's prob a good time to come back and mention what needs to be fixed again, maybe save someone else some grief or at least give the new owners a head start.

To consider using XmarkPro again, you'll need to:

  1. Prove that it's reliably supported.
  2. Fix known issues -

  • Inability to create multiple accounts with the same domain prefix. Running networks, you're gonna have keyword overlap.
    • i.e. - houstonplumbers1.com - check
    • houstonplumbers2.com - fail
      • You need to randomize the last 2 chars in the account name string upon creation so this doesn't happen (user- houstonp already exists, and you might have 20 houston plumber sites)
  • Domain add failure
    • most of the time when new domains are added to the system, it fails the first time.
    • This leaves the domain added in the xmark control panel, but did not successfully create an account on the server
    • problem: a pswd entry is saved in the server lib
      • You need to add a failure check, so if a domain fails to be created, it doesn't leave the domain in the system. As it stands, you have to sftp and manually remove the existing pwd entry in order to add the domain a second time. You also have to wait however many minutes until the cron runs after adding and deleting... which turns a quick 3 minute process into a PITA. This happens a lot - cpanel/whm, stock liquidweb dedi config for reference
  • Package manager updates

Ill get our lead dev to pm you on here and get as much info as possible from you once i can at least get the source code from Matt so we can do anything with it.

And in the meantime anyone with any issues please do email through to Support@xmarkpro.com as we are replying to all support requests and doign as best as we can all thigns considered.

Perhaps a few more of you old timers can put some pressure on matt to do the right thing here. i know im normally only a lurker but i have been around for many years and bought services from a lot of you on here.

Over to you Matt

yes, first good use of this future hall of famer GIF.

@Koipa_Matt, good luck in the client game. I tried it for a while out of necessity, it was fucking shit. I think you should try for another residual earner like xMarksPro. I currently have an Android app that makes all my money and I barely have to work on it, it's pretty much feature complete. A lot easier than finding clients, listenting to client bullshit and then the hardest part, chasing clients for money.

How come people have such a hard time doing business? I'll never understand it. Short-term thinking, cut and run, potato shit. Now your reputation is goof'd hard. Good luck with client work lol. I hope they don't figure out your wickedfire username.
