Those that do a lot of display, FB or POF ads, etc. already know this but I was recently reminded about just how much a fucking picture can affect things and figured I'd share...
So I've been doing a lot of testing of different landers, funnels, etc. using a cool new user testing service. It's totally addicting and I can't stop.
Anyway, I was testing something totally unrelated on one of my landing pages, and almost half the user testers said that the page looked "shady", fake, scammy, untrustworthy, etc.
This is a totally legit page for a legit product and I was like WTF?!
Then finally one of the user testers gave me the missing piece - they flat out said that the testimonial picture looked fake, like a stock image, and that's why they also thought the whole thing was shady.
The funny thing is that it's a legit testimonial and a legit picture, but after looking at again I'm like damn yeah that does kinda look like a stock image. Fuck!
So long story short I had one of my guys email the lady and get another picture we can use, and that one change increased conversions by 38%.
Check your pics and make sure the legit ones don't look like a stock image!
Any kind of stock image is usually a conversion killer.
