Amex Points vs. Cash?

Bro, I make my living doing break even campaigns but earning money on the credit card rewards.

E-book coming soon.

You ever run significant volume when most banks won't give you more than 5k limits because you're 22 years old? I've just received my first business credit card with a measely 10k limit despite having a business grossing 7 figures a year, and even that essentially took significant amount of complaining if not begging, and then threatening to switch banks of BofA didn't hook it up. I've got a ton of points all over the place because I had to start out getting any credit card that would take me. Surprise surprise I also have a shit ton of Amex points and am wondering the same thing about whether they are efficient to use on travel rather than appliances rather than hotels.

Messed up to make judgements about someone just based on their types of points innit?

So you were just using personal credit cards before you had the business credit? I don't understand why you would have to beg. Also, since you mentioned you bank with BofA, have you heard of their new Business Charge cards? Similar to AMEX's pay in full cards. I was thinking about applying for one.

just wondering whats the conversion ratio of amex Points to Miles. My CC (not amex) gives me 2 miles per $1 spent. Its the best CC I could find to date. Gives me Krisflyer miles and Its unlimited without cap + I get 5 Points per dollar spend which is awesome.

Virgin America card is awesome for points (and a great airline) but they won't approve you for a huge line of credit right away. Just pay it off every day or two and you are good. It's a $1 per point on all purchase and $1 for 8 points on all Virgin purchases if you become an elevate member. You can accrue points quickly and costs only about 7-8k points for a cross country trip.

LOL although I have never bought a toaster, I'm far from the "millionaire next door types". A house for a guy, doesn't need much more than a couch, bed, tv, stove/oven, plates, utensils, washer/drier, clothes, laptop, and wireless router. I think the only kitchen appliance I've had break on me in the last five years, would be a blender, and the only other device that has recently broken, was my laptop, after three years.

My money is better spent on vodka, sluts, motorcycles, and making more money.

Man, what a one dimensional life you must lead...

Ok, so I've loved my Costco AmEx card above, but I am spending about $3k/month on various international shit (mostly services and linkbuilding), and that's getting pulled right from the bank account since my card has fees.

I need a card with no International fees.

Any recommendations? Would like to stay in the AmEx family. If I spend $36k internationally, and get 2% cash back, that's $720, which would cover an annual fee.

I'm also hoping to get back into Google Adwords and spend about $2k/month there, so Advertising points would be nice too.

I like cashback instead of points/hotels/flights/gas.

Thanks to anyone who knows more than me. Might just call AmEx and see what they can do too.

75% of my spending goes to Amex Plum 2% cash back
25% goes to Amex SPG

If I know I'm gonna be traveling I'll just go 50/50

SPG rocks btw. Hilton gets like 40k points per night for their hotels, you can stay in a Westin for as little as 8k.

i use my points to fly and buy shit at home depot. and a few times at zappos. they do amazon at half points, if it was full points you better believe i'd have a Margaritaville 3.0 margarita maker.

amex flight points now stink since Continental left....

FYI the new Amex Gold Business does 2x points on advertising expenses.

yeah Amex GP is good for 2x points, but since Continental/United left their rewards program, redeeming points for flights now STINKS!

ks1905 mentioned it above, CapitalOne has no intl fee and 1% cashback. I use that.

Just got offered into a very large bank's alpha credit card group after some consulting. 8% isn't bad but not really the target demographic for it since I'd benefit from rewards much more than a low interest.

Can't really say much else besides they are doing a split profit with cardholders :)
