Anarcho-Capitalism in real life: Cape Town's Private Security

When white-rule ended in South Africa, crime predictably skyrocketed. Free market solutions arose to combat the problem. There are almost 9,000 private security firms and about 500,000 security guards in South Africa which essentially do what the police are unable to do due to incompetence, etc.

This is a good overview, although it has an obvious left-wing slant, to another case of government failure:

One thing to note is that although the number of private security guards is larger than the country's police and army combined, none of them have converted into criminal organizations or tried to tax the populace. Also, for those who can't afford private security in the better areas, there are voluntary neighborhood watch patrols.

Yeah, with 16% of the population of the USA.

South Africa is dangerous as fuck outside of the immediate tourist areas, especially in Guateng and the Free State from what I've been told. It's gotten much, much worse in the past 15-20 years.

I'm pretty sure 'Tell Me and I Will Forget' is on Netflix still, worth watching to get an idea what it's like in Guateng and the worse-off areas of South Africa. They have a whole mess of systematic problems to deal with on top of/that contribute to the extreme violence.
 
South Africa is incredibly violent. I've linked the Louis Theroux doc before, it is a very entertaining and interesting doc: Law and Disorder in Johannesburg - Video Dailymotion

You can see these private security firms here. And sociopathic criminals. And stupid mob people who want to burn someone (as is common actually!).

That doc made me lose faith in African blacks seriously. These are savages on another level. Watch that doc and tell me you don't arrive at the same conclusion.

Depends on your demeanor. If you are some idiot fat tourist of course you are going to get fucked and robbed. They would deserve it for being idiots.

So what about the dozens of citizens who are murdered, robbed and raped every single day all throughout the Rainbow Nation?

Are they fat idiots too?

I'm assuming the Rathbone family had their compound raided because they were also suffering from a mixture of excess adipose tissue and idiocy? This was something like over a decade ago.
