Anonymous company

Go to Hong Kong and make a Hong Kong company or buy a shelf. Quite easy and can be done for under $1000.

As much as I love HK and HK corporations, I don't agree that this is the best approach for free speech protection if you're looking for protection against defamation laws. HK's defamation laws are derived from the UK and therefore which they are much stronger than the US's defamation laws. Hong Kong also refers to case law from other common law jurisdictions, including the UK.

HK is excellent for other types of protections though. When it comes to commercial free speech that is not defamatory in nature (Eg: Advertorials), HK is actually much better than the US. But the US is king if you're looking to mitigate defamation lawsuits.

I am interested in OP's original question as well.

As far as my research tells, New Mexico and Wyoming offer anonymous corp's but charge corporate tax. Delaware doesn't offer anonymous corp's, but doesn't charge corporate tax. They both have their different uses I guess.

I already made several helpful posts in this thread that addressed the OP's question and provided additional info about HK corporations.

Like HiGhPeR mentioned, I actually know my shit. I was sued and have sued people in the past. I have a lot of first hand experience with being both a defendant and plaintiff.

As I already stated, Nevis WILL NOT give you good free speech protections.

The ripoffreport.com used to be incorporated in Nevis and got screwed due to their weak free speech laws (Hint: Someone filed a lawsuit against them in a Nevis court). Now they use a US entity.

Use your head and talk to a lawyer. He'll tell you I'm right.

Ah - that sounds better.

Still not keen on US entity - im not located in the US and am not really keen on choosing to locate it there. Too many domain seizures, very litigious environment etc. Just doesnt seem like the right choice for privacy or protection from frivolous lawsuits.

Nevis sounds like a bad idea though based on ripoffreports experience.

Well it really depends on what type of business you're trying to run. If you're trying to run something like the ripoffreport.com, then the US is probably as good as it gets. You don't see them having their domains seized or losing defamation lawsuits in the US do you?

I do agree with you that for other matters not relating to defamation, the US is pretty lousy.

Holy shit you're barking up the wrong tree.

But rather than pollute this useful thread with more 9/11 crap, I'll respond to this in the 9/11 thread... You know, the one where your response should have been posted.

I figure it's time to bump this thread since STS is now cluttered with spam posts anyways.

Oh and LukeP, you still didn't post in your 9/11 thread. I doubt you ever will too since you're intellectually bankrupt, and this is just pathetic face saving move on your part.

Face it LukeP: You're nothing but empty talk and promises. This proves it without a reasonable doubt.

Wyoming is probably the only state left in the US that can still be used for incorporating that won't sell your information and will actually respect privacy laws... However, that may soon change too.

Nevada used to be #1 on the list, but they sold out a while ago and they do "share" director information with data corps. So, if privacy is a big deal to you, and you're strapped for cash, stick with Wyoming.

Sure you can probably go through all sorts of buffers and make it all complex and confusing... but that's a lot of hassle, and ultimately, not that tough to uncover/trace. Everyone and everything has a price, and your secrets and information... are not priceless. I promise.

Its really about what your intentions are.

If your intentions are illegal, according to US or UK law, then you're going to want to rethink that strategy and really ask yourself if its worth pursuing.
If its to make gobs of money and avoid paying taxes, and you're a US citizen... Again, you should rethink this goal and ask yourself if its really worth going to prison over or never coming back to the US either.... because if you think you'll get away with it, chances are you won't.

However, if your intentions are.. questionable, but legal in terms of you're okay with paying taxes to the US gov or any gov, and you're not practicing something on the big uber illegal list of activities (ie. drugs, money laundering without a bank license, human trafficking, etc..) AND you have the means to invest some cash too, then your options for privacy and security are wide open, but only to a point. It helps immensely, if you have amazing relations with political/government people directly. They can always assist you in speeding things up or not having to jump through hoops, but if you get into major trouble, and you think they'll bail you out, then you're dreaming...

Moral of the story...don't be a schmuck and don't do anything illegal. Way too much cash to make by staying legal. Blackhat/grayhat however, well, that's a different story.

Seems like solid advice, wasnt planning on doing anything illegal or avoiding any taxes. Basically not looking to dodge the authorities, just avoiding litigious idiots who may take offence to comments about them on the site. Very similar to the issues that rip off report faces.
