Another fitness contest?

Shit.. I am looking for someone to pull this together, as I don't want to moderate it.

ahrgh...

Alright, someone set up a forum? Or can we set one up here?

Rules (from the top of my head)

Photo based judging
- Every contestant has to put in 2 front photos
- relaxed and flexed (I got annoyed when obviously relaxed before / flexing after) pics got rated highly
- If you want to put in more pics, go for it

Winner is the best transformation, does not matter in which direction

Start June 15th, End ..err... Sep 15th - 3 months

Prices to be determined (wanna sponsor? pipe up!)

Anything else?

^ I don't really care about prizes and all that crap tbh. While I'm not fat and don't have trouble getting out of bed early to go for a run, etc... I feel like some peer pressure could help me do a whole lot better. So yeah, I'm in.

I'm running in a 10 km race at the beginning of September and would love to do it in under 45 minutes (which would be extremely good for a hobbyist). So, if the contest ends mid September, that'd be a great way to help me stay on track with all the training.

My normal workout routine is a 4-5 km run, then 2 sets of (alternating) 25 push ups and 15 pull ups, then 4-5 km on a bike, 2-3 mins jumping rope and I'm done, lol. 3 times per week. I try to increase the number of push ups and pull ups every week, if I have the energy.

Before and after pics won't be that impressive, IMO. But I really don't care about winning the contest. Since I started training (about 1.5 months ago), my metabolism has gone WAY up. Used to eat maybe 2000 calories a day and be fine, now I eat ALL the time (3500+ daily) and I'm always hungry. My diet is quite good - chicken, turkey, fish, lots of whole grains, loads of vegetables and fruits, water, chocolate milk (lol)... It's fucking expensive though.

I'm in, purely cas I've been 2 months out of the gym due to some medical problems, and finally able to start going again - became a chubby bastard in the process. How about a proof of date pic too? So holding up a newspaper or laptop screen with a news article on it, or holding up a specific item in a specific way that no one would usually take a photo as. I know it sounds pathetic for someone to cheat in this, but this is WF, and if people can win prizes, then...

Weight loss would be dumb, even though a lot of you are probably fat.

What if we do a % increase in your lifts/workouts. Like, who had the biggest % increase in:
1 mile run
Dead lift
Squat
Bench
Pull ups
Push ups
ect.

Those are off the top of my head and I would be down for O-lifts too (clean & jerk, snatch, ect) but I know not everyone does those.

We could have a winner for each work out and a total winner too.

Just a thought, im down for any other ideas.

% increase is even less fair than the weight loss stuff. (Not to mention easy to lie about / hard to validate). E.g. 90% of people's bench press isn't a real bench press. It's also much, much, much easier to get your deadlift from 70kg to 140kg than from 140kg to 280kg.... The second is far more impressive.

Happy to go in as long as it's transformation and not weight loss (already at 62-65kg (137lbs - 143lbs) at 173cm (5'8")) and don't have access to a proper weight rack so can't do anything like biggest gains unless it's all body exercises like pullups etc.

Also happy to put in $100 worth of services for the winner, $50 for runnerup and $50 for the most impressive lapse (e.g gaining weight and being fatter than when you started).

I'm in big time, I was in one of these a while ago but I fizzled out pretty quick. This time I am severely dedicated.

I, like tencentpiece, am trying to gain some muscle rather than lose weight.

Who will win out of a skinny guy getting buff vs a fat guy getting skinny? Perhaps there should be a winner for each direction. Muscle gains are going to be a lot slower than losing fat, and therefore a less dramatic transformation.

Someone getting lean will always win over the person gaining muscle in a contest like this, purely because you can lose an impressive amount of fat in 12 weeks, but it's very hard (unless you're a complete newbie) to gain an impressive amount of muscle in 12 weeks (without mr dbol, sir tren or anna var).

Best would be two judging categories, most fat loss & most muscle gained.

(Could also have a best noob transformation or something - so someone who's clearly not really lifted/ever done much before)

Fuck, I could do this... I am fat as fuck and getting fatter every month... 90 kg right now... And I am short... 175 cm maybe, not sure... 24yrs old...

I still think there should be a contest based on qualitative data such as max lifts or max 5 km running.

The problem with that is, what is more impressive?

A newbie going from a 30 min 5km run to a 25 min 5km run or somebody who actually runs going from a 15 min 5km run to a 14.45 min 5km run?

Most people are probably going to say the newbie is more impressive, but I'd love to be able to shave off 15 seconds on my PB.

I have no medial meniscus in either knee, so a 5km run would fucking kill me regardless of whether or not I'm fit, fat or fucking dead. I'm pretty sure most in this thread are just looking to change the shape of their body in either a plus or minus fashion so they do feel a little fitter and look a little better. :)

^ This. A leaner transformation is always going to stand out against even the best bulking ones. Either needs to be who can make the most progress towards getting leaner or have separate categories for people that aren't looking to just lean up.

I've already hit my goal for leaning up for the summer and was on the fence about pushing myself further after being on vacation and looking at pics that were taken, I guess this is as good as motivation as any.

Oh, this is why I love this forum.

I ask who is up to ORGANIZING this contest - no one
I then lay down some ideas - EVERYONE pipes up with their shit and why this is no good
Who of those wants to organize it? - no one

PS: On the other hand, props to those who offered to sponsor.

Pretty impressive... You must not be very Fat...

I was 95 KGs. Down to 91 Kgs as of yesterday.. Started about 3 weeks back.. Height is 5 10+
My diet is similar to yours + Muesly + Egg whites + Cottage Cheese + ON Whey isolates, but I still can seem to do a pull up and still struggle with push ups.. Maybe because I am 33..

I could do 35-40 X 3 Reps of push ups when I was 23-24
I am aiming for at least 25 in another 4 weeks or so..
But I could never pull up properly... Somehow never tried and get demotivated..

Now I am doing what my instructor says at the Gym.. 1 5-6 days a week.. Mostly light work out on Machines..
Yesterday I cycled 8 KMs, in 20 Minutes and burned 200+ cal before I did my Abs.. 20 minutes on the treadmill afterwards 270 Cal. Still struggling with Crunches and Sit ups too. I need support for sit ups.. Damn... long way to go...

Can can do Leg raise and reverse crunch properly.. And did a lot of other stuff.. Pulley side bends etc... I am waiting to the Instructor to change my schedule. After 3 months I will see if I can do the 5X5 from sronglifts..

I am measuring my progress on Inbody:
I still have 21.3 KG of fat to go..
I have gained about 1.5 Kilos of muscle... This I LIKE.. :-)
BMR is still way down at 1690.. Was 1632 when I started out... But I think this has to do with my genes.. fuck

After 3 months I will see if I can do the 5X5 from sronglifts..

??? You should be able to do strong lifts 5x5 from the get go...

It doesn't matter if you can't do a full pull up, just put a pull up bar somewhere where you walk under a lot and then attempt to do a pull up whenever you pass it. Before long you'll be able to one pull up, then just give yourself 30seconds break and do another.

I said 3 months because I would like to follow the schedule that my personal instructor gives me for now... And then I will start doing that.. He is an ex competitive body builder so I try not to suggest much.. Also I prepaid for 3 months :)

I think do have a pull up contraption I once bought when I bought P90X .. Lol... I remember I have P90X too .
Will fit that today to a door

EDIT; The gym also has those pull up machines with weight support.. That is also a little frustrating and demotivating considering at how much weight I have to insert the pin... Are those any good?

Why not just start a thread and get started?

Or do you want it off site?

That's far from impressive, trust me. :)

And yea, I'm a skinny fuck, lulz. 5'11" and just 71 kg right now. Never had any problems with pull ups myself. When I tried doing pull ups as a kid I think I did 12 or 14 the first time ever. Right now I can do 3 sets of 25 when rested, but running + other stuff makes it so much harder. I really need to put on more muscle mass, but it doesn't seem to matter what/how much I eat (I gained like 1 kg over the last month).

Don't get demotivated, just do what tencent said - it works.

use fitocracy.com guy. you can create custom suer groups, set a goal and everyone who exercises logs it and it gets setup on a leaderboard. easy peasy.

/thread resurrect.

Any of you fat... achieve your fitness goals this summer?

I hit my 5km in under 20 mins goal (19:56 from ~30 mins 4 months ago) and feel confident I can run 10km in under 45 minutes, though I have been doing regular 6km runs, which could be a problem.

Gained 2kg (I assume that's mostly muscle mass) - big fail as I was aiming for 4-6kg.
