Anwar al-Awlaki killed in Yemen

Rendition is not the same thing as this.

Rendition is illegal. Killing someone while attempting to pursue them to put them on trial is not illegal.

Err yeah, before the missile took him out, I'm sure Barney Fife was there to try and read him his miranda rights and shit.

Holding off on Battlefield 3 and saving up for this . . .

How is pursuing them with a drone attack trying to bring them to trial? The mission was to kill him, plain and simple.

As much as I hate to say it because I "think" he is a terrorist, he deserved a trial or at least an attempt at an arrest. Anything else violates the human rights and makes the US no better then the countries we condemn for human rights violations. No president should have the power to put out a hit list of who he wants to be killed because he thinks they are "terrorist."

And don't say that they had the intelligence to back up those claims. We were told there were WMDs in Iraq but never found them, so intelligence is not full-proof.

It does not change the fact that we took it upon ourselves to get involved with something that was none of our business.

I'm not a fan of Obama. Neither of Bush. But didn't Bush get you into 2 pointless wars? #justsayin

Another thing about everyone complaining about him being an US citizen. How is it 'legal' to kill people from another nationality.. but if any of you gods gets under fire, it's a horrible occurence? As far as I know, there are quite some US citizens being assinated in the southern states, and many of them are waiting to get executed too. It's called death row.

All this dude was calling for was violence and he was partially responsible for a good number of dead people. Good that he's gone. I wonder why nobody here cried out loud when the drones wiped out a whole family a few months ago.

Yes. States tend to do this, regardless of who occupies the White House. This point has been discussed on this forum many times.

Capital punishment is a terrible mechanism of "justice." States kill. Full stop.

Some of us have better things to do than "cry out loud" on a forum filled with people who are emotionally invested in their patriotism. Love of country is the same as love for a woman. It blinds.

I enjoy talking with folks in person about economics, liberty, and the effects of state aggression (domestic and foreign). I can present a more compelling case for my positions.

lulz on Guantanamo - not sure where you get your info from. He never tried to shut it down, and actually reinstituted military trials there as well. As far as Libya don't kid yourself. NATO = United States. There is no NATO without the US so when NATO does something understand that it means the US is doing it.
Yeah, looking at that, I must have misread it, or heard it from someone unreliable or something. :) Fair point about Libya.

The thing about death row, though, is they've all been trialed and found guilty...

NATO = United States. There is no NATO without the US so when NATO does something understand that it means the US is doing it.

Pretty ignorant to consider the NATO to be nothing more than the United States considering the number of soldiers / military actions involved from other countries in the territories the US is failing since years like Afghanistan and officially asked for support.

Fully agree that a major power behind the NATO is the US but the way you describe it it's simply not correct.

Beside that, the problem is the US picks their heads into every shithole in the world as long as there's some oil to get. And don't go like they do it for the people in Afghanistan or Lybia. Enough places the NATO / US doesn't give a fuck on where much easier 'help' would be possible and needed.

Nigga knew he was wanted. Nigga knew he was doing something illegal and the Americans were coming after him.

He had the choice to give himself up peacefully.

Can't believe you guys are questioning the legal basis for knocking him da fuck out.

So, because the government tell you he was doing something illegal - he was?

....

A Yemeni government official told CNN that the killing was the result of a "successful joint intelligence-sharing operation" between Yemen and the United States.
Just wanted to point this out since I was initially under the impression that the US did this without Yemen's cooperation, and I don't want others to make the same mistake that I did. (Note that this is assuming we can trust the statement quoted above, obv.)

But Rep. C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger, D-Maryland, said al-Awlaki was on a "special list" of individuals attempting to attack the United States that is approved by the National Security Council and the president. Targeting those individuals is legal and legitimate, said Ruppersberger, the ranking member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, who was in Yemen two months ago.
This is the part that bothers me a bit since we aren't really being told how people get on or off this list, etc.

Interesting. You must possess evidence that Greenwald lacks, and the State won't release.

You don't need to divulge your source, Ar Scion. At this point, I would be content merely to see the evidence (as opposed to an assertion) you possess that warranted this assassination.

Let me save you some time. I would not bother posting the following responses:

1. "C'mon, Jake! You know that nigga was up to sumptin. Bitch got what was comin' to him."

2. "If he didn't do nothing wrong, nigga woulda given himself up. He dint, so we whooped his ass. End of story. America... FUCK YEAH!"

3. "Lookit all you libtards crying yer eyes out about due process. We in a war, nigga! Ain't no due process in war! You start a fight with the U.S., we gonna end it!"

Again, I am looking forward to seeing the evidence you possess. Given your unabashed support for the strike, I assume you have it?

Ar Scion might be busy right now, maybe he's just doing

a) a robbery on a liquor store
b) playing basketball in the backyard
c) doing some freestyle rap
d) clapping some big fat booties
e) doing some drive-by shoot

just a small example of possibilities
