Any good SEO/IM magazines out there?



This reminded me of this:

Revenue | Revenue Magazine

I don't remember who put that out, vaguely remember getting one at a pubcon, or asw, or leadscon, or something, maybe 4 or 5 years ago, but I'd try to find back issues of that and read it while listening to Springsteen's "Glory Days."

I think I still have a couple of those floating around somewhere. It was perfect bathroom reading material. Some of the articles were funny because the titles and sub heads were all KW optimized (though admittedly, they may have also been published online.) Still kind of funny to notice in a print magazine.

I think most of the articles eventually ended up on their site, they ran Joomla or some such.

The KW optimization is actually interesting, and that's an interesting manifestation. Somewhere around 2006-ish writing for Google News became important. Where for generations journalists and editors artfully avoided the obvious, the algorithm demanded keywords. Thus where a desk editor might indulge snappy headlines like "Spaghetti Bowl Pileup Claims 4" news.google wouldn't know what the fuck, so now he has to write "Deadly Collision on Route 95 Results In Four Deaths" so the article doesn't end up slotted in with San Gennaro fest coverage. This even made its way to mainstream journalists, eventually, in the form of crash courses and addendum to style guides. Non-SEO-friendly content is now universally discouraged.
