Any Macbook Air Owners Here?

There always seems to be trouble with users on macs...they used to be really worth the extra cost for all the art designers / media types, but it would seem that the PC playing field has been leveled out a lot in the last several years

I normally hate Macs lots but have to give the 13" air lots of props, it's more than adequate for photochomp and trolling forums but

I probably wouldn't buy again as Acer and others have offerings in the same weight and performance class running real OS with less gayness.

I have seen copycat PC laptops similar to the MBA for sale. They have similar configs and priced only about $100 cheaper. Hot monkayz not want!

To the Macbook Air owners, anyone had trouble dealing with the lack of a DVD drive or is it not really a problem at all?

just get a thumb drive. I literally never use CDs, once I needed to install windows on a different machine and I just torrented the iso, opened it, dragged files to thumb drive, then booted from usb.

also, the mac's trackpad is the best laptop pointing device on the market. Once you get used to it, everything else feels like pure and utter shit. I say this every time we debate mac VS. everything: anyone knocking on their stuff simply hasn't tried it long enough. Diddling the trackpad in best buy doesn't fucking count. Use it for 3 days and I guarantee your view of all other computers will change permanently.

Sign me up for the 15" Air if and when it exists! The 11" and 13" are sexy, sexy beasts, but they just don't have the resolution.

I'm going to get an 11 inch at some point, they look perfect for travel (the screen is surprisingly good for the size). Got to be an iMac for home though.

Only drawback is that the fan goes crazy when you're browsing sites with a lot of flash, ie youtube and other streaming sites.

On most streaming sites, there's a shit load of flash ads, as well as the video you care about. Use an adblocker, suddenly it'll use a reasonable amount of cpu.

No other brand has managed to make a solid metal unit either, it's always some bullshit partly metal body with plastic and shit everywhere. At least with a Macbook it's a solid fucking aluminium body.

Look at this, Samsung series 9.. nice looking laptop. More expensive than a MBA. They said it's made from magnesium, yet the keyboard is surrounded by plastic and the bottom of it is plastic FFS.

The current 13" macbook air already has a 1440x900 resolution. Better than anything on the market right now in that size, but retina displays are so awesome.
