I have both mac and windows. I recommend mac if you can afford it as it is nice experience. I use it because i think it the safest browsing experience and use it for personal stuff like checking bank accounts and shopping.

Yeah I also don't cheap out on getting ram upgrade from apple straight.

windows is hardly "battle hardened". In fact, its one of the most exploitable OS's.

while impressive, 600k macs vs the 10s of millions of Windows boxes infected worldwide currently. big difference.

That's a Java vulnerability and not an OS X one. People often talk about their OS being secure or not and forget to keep their apps up to date or install crap.
