I'm probably gonna pick up an Audi A5 today. I've loved this car for a while, and bout time to just get it.

Does anybody else have one?

I noticed that for the price of the car, compared to other cars of similar pricing, like the Infiniti G37, or Lexus GS.. the lease comes out to like $100 a month more for the A5 with the same amount of money down.

I was quoted like $525 a month w/ $3,000 down. Just curious if it's worth that, when I could get a G37 for $418 a month w/ $3,000 down at pretty much the same sticker price.

whats the sticker? for 30k, i'd be sitting in a CLS 500. A5's are clean though. You may be able to get more wiggle room from like an OffLease auto or something.

I loved my A6. Didn't have a lease from the dealer though so have no idea what rates are like compared to others.

After 'purchasing' several new cars via financing.... never again.

Worst assets ever.

i currently have the Q7 but looking to downgrade to the A5 or A6 just to make easier for driving in the city... but I honestly only put $20 of gas in it every 1-2 months (barely drive it) so haven't really been in a hurry to make the switch.

Have an newer Audi a8, best car I've ever driven. But the a5 Is in a different category, so make sure u drive all cars in that catergory. And your not buying it for the looks and badass lights only. Big decision, test drive.

You guys look like you are all leasing your car, I'm about to get myself a new beast but I was certain buying was better at some point. What are the advantages to lease a car compared to buy, where you keep the car and can resell it?

agreed! but still like Audi

though can afford it now - money(business)wise it's by far not he best thing to do and you don't need car so much in NYC.

I just traded my 08 S5. I'm anal when it comes to cars. The A5 is pretty much the same car minus the V8 and performance suspension setup & aero kit. Loved my S5. So much I'm thinking of picking another one up. I currently own or have owned:

08 G37
09 BMW 135i
11 BMW M3
08 Audi S5
07 Lexus IS350

Out of all of those the Audi is the best built by far. After 12k miles the Infiniti developed a nice creak/pop from the A-pillar when going over bumps that cause the chassis to flex. Anal? Yes, but I paid $45k for a car with the same problems as my old Honda. Can only imagine at 20,30,40k. The 135i and the M3 creaks everywhere over certain bumps but they are the most fun to drive. The Lexus was too soft and was plauged with electronics issues (this car is in the dealer the most). The Audi on the other hand gave me 22k problem-free miles, miss it every day. Definitely getting another one in the near future. Out of all the cars the Infiniti is the cheapest to maintain/own.

$525? What options (sounds like you're getting it with nothing on it)? I'm paying $607 for the Premium Plus, Sport Package, and Navi added on (also 3K down).

Is it worth the money? That's relative, I guess. I LOVE Audis so it's worth it for me. With that said, the car is slow. Drives beautifully but it's slow. If you're looking for speed, get a Beamer. My friend got a 135 around the same time I got my A5. He pays $420/month and it's a faaaaaast ride (not to mention BMW gives you free service for the length of the lease; Audi only gives you the first at 5K miles).

Now, you could opt for the S5... but then you're leasing a 60K car which IMHO is much too much for a mere Audi.

holy fuck cars are cheap in america. 3.2 A5 fully loaded here? $120k.

God damn, 43k!!

I drove a 2011 3.2 last week, well appointed car, dsg shifts well, interior uses quality components, even if that style of interior has been around for 5years now within audi cars.

Do it. Get one.

Generally...

If you're gonna own it for 5 + years... buy it.

If you're gonna switch new whips every 2-3 years then lease it.

I like leasing because it's a short term thing. 5 Years from now shit might go south and you're going to be kicking yourself in the balls for buying that car. It's a lot less risky IMO to commit to something for just a couple years and then you can either upgrade, or downgrade depending on how business is going.

The other thing is if you're buying a car, you'd want to get something 2-3 years old, (If you're smart) but with leasing you'll be driving around in a 2011.

And when it comes to taxes, it's much easier to write off a lease. But I could be wrong.. talk to your accountant about that.
