They're probably bidding more, too. Start your bid higher and see how it turns out.

i did a test campaign today and i set my bid at 5.00 i got 10 clicks nones got me a lead, and i still wasnt even on the front page and my quality score was good.

no you should examine your landing page, the offer your using, the audience your appealing to, and the keywords you're using. that cpc is high enough.

hey i let my campaign run last night and into today and so far i got about 600 impressions and only 1 click and that click did not convert. why am i not getting alot of impressions or clicks, i am pretty sure my ad groups and keywords are good, most of my qualit scores are great, my max cpc is at 1.00, and its still not working. should i raise my cpc. i have 3 adgroups one for ringtones in general, one is phone carriers like verizon ringtones, cingular ringtones, and the third is phone models like razr ringtones, nokia ringtones etc...

Yeah,3 ad groups,it sounds very targeted.I guess you spend a lot of time on creating this campaign, huh?
Do you think that the others that are making so much money with ringtones have even close to 3 adgroups?

i spent 45 dollars in the past hour on 25 clicks and none of them converted for leads, ctr % is 5 and it was all for the keyword "cell ringtones"...i cant figure this out

yea i have 3, i dont know y i would need more..my ad groups now seem to cover most for me, but i dont know much..can u tell me like why i would need more ad groups? im already targeting ringtones, phone carriers, and phone models , what else is there

One issue you might be running into is that some advertisers only pay for specific carriers. That's one way to get a price point so high (by scrubbing out anyone that they are not able to deliver premium content to). That could be causing the low conversion rate

so what should i do?
I would definitely discuss this with your AM at the network you are a part of to make sure that you understand the payout action completely. Additionally, some networks have offers that utilize a bucket of advertisers and optimize your conversion rate based on the strengths of each (usually specific advertisers do better than others only on a few carriers). I know that cpa empire has shadylizard and ringtones.net, and copeac has glamtones. I think azoogle has a similar offer as well.

If you bid on "ringtones" of course it isn't going to convert as often if you have 2-5 word keywords. You may get volume and pay more for the keyword but it isn't going to help you as much. Just test different keywords out don't be so broad "think outside the box".

blueyam1234, it sounds like you need to do a little more market analysis in order to make your campaign work. Here are some things you should review...

1. How are the primary competitors in your space promoting the same offer with the same keywords? Focus on the process of speaking to the searcher (i.e. the keyword you're bidding on, the ad you've created and the lander you're using).

2. What keywords are they using? Why are they using them?

3. What do their ads look like?

4. What do their landing pages look like? Are they using a PHP echo to pull in their keywords to their landers? Is there a hero shot or graphic? Male or female? Dancing, smiling, etc.?

5. What merchants are they promoting (different merchants have different payouts and conversion ratios for their landers)?

6. Figure out how it is possible for your competitors to rank in the first 8-11 positions for a given keyword and still drive a positive ROI. Does Google like their ad more than they like your ad? If so, why? Are they bidding a lot more because their merchant's payout is higher or their merchant's lander converts at a higher rate? There is always an answer. If you have the tenacity, you need to dig in deep and figure this stuff out.

You are playing in a market where a lot of big players and a lot of inexperienced people play. It is dangerous. The big players usually know their numbers very well. The inexperienced hemorrhage cashflow and blow themselves out of the market quickly. That tends to jack up prices and make the market inefficient.

Again, ringtones is dangerous. But, there are some people still pulling in big numbers with impressive ROI's.

Disclaimer: I don't play in the ringtone market for some of the reasons above, so feel free to ignore my advice.

Just FYI

Ringtones sometimes you will convert 1/5 sometimes 1/100. It changes from day to day.

Right now the market for ringtones on google is inflated almost beyond what the ROI is. As the guy before me said, there's lots of guys who get in this with high bids (like you guys posting above). Thinking they will make a return only to find out they loose money. If you watch the top trends on google for ringtone keywords you will notice they switch out almost daily. Of course there are a few long time players that are always in the top, but for the most part its people who jump in 1 day with $5 bids and all they do is run their budget out. Unfortunately due to the widespread gossip and hype about promoting ringtones, it seams that the steady stream of noobs paying $4.85 a click seam to never stop. This inflates the market and bassicly makes it what it is. Over priced.

Another thing to keep in mind is most of the top players are direct and have recurring income from this. They don't make $15 per signup. They make $9.99x3 or x5 or x9 or however long the customer stays subscribed.

errr, i dont know what to do, i think ive tried everything....i used long keywords, short keywords, all diff kinds of keyword, ive chanegd my landing page to look like the big guys, ive used different ads, i copied the big guys ads as well....

Its true...Most big players get paid for the same customer for the life of their subscription. If you aren't a big player....no way to compete.
