Anyone else just not give a fuck about nice things?

I'm not hating on people who do. I really can't think of much, if anything, I splurge on or go on spending sprees. Like, I buy name brand kleenex instead of the cheaper store brand tissue because it feels better I guess. But other than that I really don't do that.

Lol kleenex. I guess only the best to "splurge" in to.

I know you weren't hating, but it seems like you're not really enjoying your spoils that much, though it may just not be your thing. Maybe stockpiling money is your thing? I know a few people who, despite making a lot of money, must at all cost, save every single cent.

I think my entire point though is that different people have different things that give them those "moments" in life I guess. Some like to spend money they have on shit they don't need, while others like to save everything they make for something they will never buy. Either way if both those routes make you miss out on the good shit on the way, what's the point?

Shrug.

Best advise on this forum

Single fucks?

Sounds like I did indeed get too close to home.

This made me think, I will sometimes splurge on food. It's not always though. A lot of the time I like a cheap, greasy spoon style diner with good food or local smaller casual restaurants, but once in a while I go for an upscale place.

Intel
Mac (been using Apple since I was 2, able to get a family discount also)
Both, depends on the purpose. Business expense.
Namecheap, I hate Godaddy's interface
Neither right now (not for any reason really, I ran traffic to A4D in the past)
Wickedfire
Neither, don't smoke.
Red
Neither, stout.
Both, depends on the occasion.
Turkey
Neither

What the fuck do you plan to do with 80 hectares of land?

Ahh there it is. You indulge in overpriced designer tech items (even with the discount!) ;)

Considering I've been using Apple since the Apple ][e and beige box 680x0 processor era, lived through Mac OS 6 - 9.2 up until X, etc..

I also think Apple's support is top notch and the warranty care has easily saved me $800+ on various repairs over time. So that ends up being a net gain. I don't buy a new Mac every time they come out. I use them until basically EOL.

in before ryan eagle pitying the peasants

Ping. Seriously, I come from the completely opposite viewpoint as PJ. I spend money -- on stuff that makes me feel happy. Good clothes, living good, traveling a lot, bitches etc. etc. Sure as fuck I don't go around flaunting it (that is no way baller but an insecurity and lack of depth) but everyone is different.

So basically, you have to know what the fuck you work your ass off for. For PJ it might be those houses or whatever and he is happy wearing crappy stuff. For me I know what motivates me. For Ryan it could be that big-ass ring and all the watches. For someone else it may be something else.

EVERYONE has different motivations. Sure the core motivations are always the same but somethings always outweigh others. And as a marketer I would have expected you to understand this -- surprising that you went on a rant.

Three times in the past twelve years I've invited all of my friends over and given away everything I own (with the exception of some clothes, a laptop, and a bike). I hate buying anything other than food and my happiness level seems to directly relate to whether or not I can fit everything I own in a backpack.

Hippies love to be broke. So no surprise bro.

The only point i was makin was that it differs. some folk find comfort in pricey items where as others find comfort in budget items. its interesting that you never ran traffic through copeac but you did through A4D at one point. It fits your original post thread. Seriously though we need to talk waves.

"beige box" usually means generic PC and PC's never ran Motorola chips - unless you mean "beige box" Mac? (never heard them called that..)

Anyway, I like buying nice shit. I don't see the point of being cheap - it's not a "life score" and you can't take it with you.

Like everything else in life it's all about balance, buying 7 different italian/german cars so you can have something to drive for every day of the week is stupid but so is buying a busted down 1992 geo metro for the sake of being thrifty when you could easily afford a decent car.

Yeah, the first gen Power PCs were referred to as "beige box" PPCs. My first PC was a Mac 8200 PPC. I put about $10k into the box and accessories with the original purchase price ($3500 usd), a daughter card processor upgrade from 120mhz to 240mhz ($1600), 4 x 64mb dimms (4 x $400=$1600), a 6! gb HD, a 32 mb video card, a HD expansion card, a USB card, Agfa scanner, Radius monitor, Zip drive, Wacom tablet, etc. etc. etc.

Then I wised up and bought a PC.

On the money front, they say it can't buy you happiness, but I'm sure a hell of a lot happier with nice things. I like nice electronics, nice clothes, I want a nice house (or 5) and a nice boat.

Something like this perhaps...

As someone already said, you can't take it with you.

I dunno the idea of being extremely mobile (but with surplus cash in the bank) might be nice. Except I wouldn't like the idea that if I got mugged... that was everything I ever owned, would be kind of pitifully sad.

Not to mention when you keep all your belongings in one place, depending on the person you are, you may be less worried bout actually losing it, but more worried that you've just increased the chances of having self-incriminating evidence of whatever vice you have in someone else's hands. (imagine if you obtained every form of electronic storage ChrisS has owned...)

Agree 100% with every word.

...Especially the last sentence.

I want a green card and it's a $500k investment under the EB-1 Visa.

The money will be used to help build regional centers and provide Americans with jobs.

Pretty cool eh?
