I'm making the trek over to London for Ad-Tech and iDate next month. I'm curious where others are staying, or if anyone local has recommendations.

The Hilton Olympia has horrible TripAdvisor Reviews. The Novatel West has So/so reviews.

Suggestions? ;-)

Im heading to Ad:tech, Im staying in Greenwich near the O2. I grabbed an apartment for the month tho.

Many others going? Should all go for a WF pissup.

We are going to ad:tech. Getting put up at Saint Martins on the West End again. It's not really convenient to the conference but we loved it the last time we stayed there. It's more in the artsy district I guess.

I'll probably be at Ad:tech, although I thought it was quite poor last year.

Regarding where to stay, depends on your budget ofc but there are plenty of hotels in the South Kensington and Earls Court areas that make it easy to get to Olympia, or else try the West End (around Leicester Square and Covent Garden) if you want to do the tourist thing or see some nightlife.

The area immediately around Olympia is a bit dire, so try to avoid it and don't be tempted to take a cheaper option south of the river, you'll find yourself cut off, especially if you plan on doing a late night drinking stint in central.

There are lots of nice small/boutique hotels in the Kensington/Earls Court area. Can't remember where I stayed last year, but there's so much selection that you shouldn't have trouble finding a decent place in that neighborhood.

I don't want to spend $500/night, but still want to be in a place thats decent. I wouldn't mind being around some nightlife. So any recommendations that aren't too far away but still a good area to be?

For football, you're out of luck if you're only here mid-week as, from what I can see in the fixtures, there are no games that week.

If you're here during a weekend there should be plenty going on, there are clubs all over London. For a quality (but expensive) football game try Arsenal, Chelsea or Tottenham.

For a more 'authentic' football atmosphere go for West Ham in the Premier League (scene of all the riots earlier this week) or a lower league team like Charlton, Crystal Palace, Millwall (caution!), Brentford or Wimbledon AFC.

Don't worry too much about the news that happened between West Ham and Millwall this week, those two clubs have a very fierce rivalry and it's very very rare these days.

You should be able to find somewhere good for a lot less than that. £100-£150 per night should get you somewhere quite nice

A good tip I can suggest is try Lastminute.com's secret hotel deals. You can get a very decent rate at a 4*+ hotel in a good location if you book just before you arrive.

here you go: http://www.lastminute.com/site/travel/hotels/deals/top-secret.html & http://www.lastminute.com/site/travel/hotels/hotels-browse.html?CATID=111044

(not a dickroll ;))

I'm staying at the Novotel in Paddington. It's a new hotel with gym & pool and Paddington is fairly close to everything. It's not 5 star but it's reasonably priced and comfortable.

No, I think the Novotel West is in Hammersmith. It's not far though. It's within easy reach on the tube.
