i'm looking for an affiliate program where i can offer a toolbar download for my surfers and revenue share on the ppc from their searches.

please post here if you know of one...

the 2 mentioned above pay-per-install...i'm looking for a revenue share where i get a % of the ppc clicks forever.

found this one that seems good:

Conduit.com - Free community toolbar Builder in a Few Easy Steps

I was just going to suggest that...You can create your own google search page on your site and make it your default search in your toolbar.

Also, the feed/news ticker you can add is awesome for shooting affilate offers and you also have a message system.

There are TONS of things you can do with that site.

How does Conduit make money if they allow you to use your search and feeds?

if i understand it correclty, if a surfer installs a toolbar they provide, you get a revenue share from any google adsense ads clicked on when a search is done via the toolbar.

i think google specifically states you can't use toolbar traffic for adsense for search...??

it appears that Conduit has Google's permission to do this....i don't see it really being any different than using the adsense for search box you place on your site....

i just slapped up one of their banners - only took 5 minutes to set up an account. we'll see how it does...

I don't think I worded it right. What I mean is when they install your toolbar make your install set their page to your search page by default. Not in the actually toolbar.

Xrproto, do you mean using eli's 100 dollar a day idea combined with that affilaite scheme?

You could take teh same marketing approach as teh screen savers and submit them to software directories. I would also develop a site to promote the toolbar so users could come back for updates and such.

if i understand what you are getting at, i dont' believe that's what the toolbar does...it doesn't change the home search page....

either way, the site appears to be fully legit with Google and that's all that really matters IMO.

I know the toolbar has nothing to do with changing the users home page, you repackage the toolbar installer with your our that will prompt the user asking them if they want to change their hompage to your search page. After they accept/decline the toolbar installs.

I haven't done this with conduits yet 'cause I have them host the install files. I have done it with other types of toolbars.

I believe your able to host it yourself and if so you could do something like this, it's just another added revenue stream if they use your search page.

gotcha. i haven't installed the toolbar myself...

for what you are describing...i haven't seen one that off-the-shelf lets you make 'your' homepage their default homepage...is there a company that does that easily without having to program it into the toolbar download/install yourself?

No. Hijacking homepages is a good way to have people uninstall your toolbar.

It's a stupid thing to program into your toolbar unless you plan on making the uninstall impossible, which is also stupid.

You can't use AdSense with the search function either, you need serious traffic and reputation for Google to even consider letting you use AdSense with a toolbar. I mean, what's to stop you from being a douche and forcing the install on people's computers? Google doesn't want to be involved with that crap.

i never said anything about hijacking a homepage...it would be clearly spelled out with uninstall options.

and i know i'd have to use a 2nd/3rd tier PPC engine....regardless i'd be doing it 100% legit. i hate spyware/adware myself and won't work with companies that promote it such as zango.

Everything is always clearly spelled out, people don't care and barely ever read anything though. What you want to do is considered hijacking.

And no offense, but homepage hijacking is a lot worse than what Zango does.

Edit: The only way you could get away with this is if you had a prompt that specifically asked if the user wanted to change their homepage, but still, a lot of people wont and it just isn't going to make a lot of money. Not worth the effort IMO.

Prompt the user and asking them if they would like to set MyPage.com as their homepage IS NOT high jacking and if a yes or no question is to complicated for them then chances are they will be to stupid to figure out how to remove a simple toolbar.

No one ever said anything about high jacking so I'm not sure where the hell that came from and there are tons of software out there that ask you the same f'n thing before/after you install their product.
