anyone knows how to get cheap first class plane tickets?

You should be able to find a seat on PAL business for $3k RT for that route through consolidators. You'll have to switch places at MNL though.

You'll get more responses if you ask at flyertalk

Not sure about international flights, but I got a free first class upgrade from New York to Georgia by just asking for it. Actually, I asked if they had any upgrades assuming there would be a fee, but the guy gave me new boarding passes for row 1 and told me no charge.

If the flight isn't overbooked or full, you might have a shot by asking at check in. If the flights overbooked, you could also volunteer to take a later flight in exchange for an upgrade.

Never hurts to try.

Here's my flight strategy since I go between Asia and America a lot.

I'll get business class if I have the points. If not, a lot of airlines offer something called premium economy. I know Thai Airways / Eva air have it already. For a few hundred more you get a lot more leg room / wider seats. Also when you're by the window it's just 2 seats, instead of the usual 3. But yea $2400 for premium economy vs $8k for first class...I rather save the $6k.

I'll take a Valium pill to knock out. I can seriously zzz for like 12+ hours off of one of these. Think you need a prescription in America but I get them off the black market in Asia (oooo guys we're dealing with a badass here)

Most of the LAX -> Asia flights have a slight layover in an Asian city (Taipei, Tokyo, etc) for an hour or two. I usually just stay overnight in that city and fly out the next day. The last few hours are really brutal so it's nice to go through it after being refreshed.

Also time flies when you have a good TV series to go through on your laptop.

Marrying an airline employee will get you standby tickets (which usually means business class or better) for just the sales tax on the ticket.

Been there. Done that.

Hope this helps.

Standby tickets are free for a nominated "travel partner", and you do NOT need to be married to them. They can also get you "buddy passes" which do cost a fee, but are taxed as a benefit at the end of the year.

It sounds a lot easier and cheaper to hijack a domestic flight and get it to fly you to Singapore. Try it. I hear all the kids are doing it.
