any of you been to austin?

it looks really nice from all the stuff I've read, except that it doesn't seem to be a very walkable city (which is what I'd like).

got any recommendations for things to do/places to eat? I'll be there with april 29-may 4.

Yep its pretty sweet. You'll need a car you can't walk to shit. Well maybe in the small downtown area.

You should get a flying pig donut at gourdoughs (bacon + maple glaze + awesome donut yay) And at the trailer next to it (odd duck farm to trailer)get a pork belly slider :D
There's lots of great places to eat and many of them are in trailers incidently lol

My brother lives there, right off Ladybird Lake, if you live relatively close to downtown it's very walkable for work and nightlife. Tons of hippies on bikes too (most of them obnoxious civic narcissists, almost as bad as San Francisco.) 6th street is awesome. There's also an ass load of homeless people CONSTANTLY hitting you up for money, again, almost as bad as San Francisco. But overall a very cool city.

It's been a long time since I've been there. Like 10 years. But when I was there, I had a blast. 6th St. FTW!

Likewise, I partied in Austin from 97-99. 6th st is pretty sweet -live music capitol of the world apparently, but there are lots of other things to do.

From what I remember it's not a walkable city like New York though.

it's not very walkable, no. The downtown/around campus is though. Lots of good music and bars in 6th street. Do you like Mexican food/BBQ? I hope so!!

austin has the best fucking food. my personal recommendations, chuys mexican, hoovers (very fucking good), threadguils, conan's pizza, plenty of others

have fun

I live in Austin! If you like hot dogs or bacon, check out Frank's. They have awesome gourmet hot dogs with bizarre stuff. They also have a chocolate chip bacon cookies, bacon infused whisky and other stuff.

Alamo Drafthouses are some really nice theaters here basically they bring real food out to you while you watch your movie. If you talk during the movie, you can get kicked out.

There's good food and lots of shit to do here.

lol dude they should call that restaurant "the stroke factory" ... Chocolate chip bacon? WTF

Sounds like a good city to visit. I always wanted to check out some southern state. :P

Yes, Alamo Drafthouse FTW! You can see crazy things like Estonian Startrek or live actors speaking the parts as the movie plays, or just normal movies.

Beautiful wimmins. Good BJJ. Lots of dirty hippies in the urban areas. Good music and lots of tech-centric entrepreneurs. Nice scenery when you go west, too.
