Anyone use a trackball instead of a mouse?

Quick note... I went back today and they had the Wacom Bamboo Touch in stock (didn't have it yesterday), so I bought it. It's basically a big touchpad like you have on a laptop. They advertise true multitouch on the box for windows 7... it's a lie.

In short, don't buy this thing. It's a huge piece of shit: Bamboo Touch

can't stand trackballs but this might be a good thread to ask about a type of one i've been trying to find for years and maybe someone will know what i'm talking about.

About 12 years ago i was on my aunts computer and she had a pad that was much like a mouse pad but slightly thicker and smaller height and width wise. In the middle was a little two button mouse type thing but it was really small. Only big enough for two fingers one on each button. The scroll wheel was where your thumb was on the wrist pad. The little button thingy floated around inside the pad so you don't move your hand you just move the little button thingy with your fingers to move the curser and you use your thumb to spin the wheel. I have no idea what its called and haven't seen one since but I still really want one and would buy it in a heartbeat if I ever found another one.

It looks really awkward to use but it was extremely natural and comfortable and very accurate. I was used to it pretty much instantly. It was also much faster than using a mouse, I could move that curser like a fuckin indy driver lol. Think about how you use your mouse if you're not an interwebs noob. You don't actually rest your palm on it and move your whole hand. You just move your fingers moving the mouse and you rest your palm on the desk or on the pad. Why not elimite the whole mouse and just use the buttons? It makes too much damn sense haha

I'm not crazy someone has got to know what i'm talking about

it was just a dream,you're crazy,that thing doesn't exist.

^ I think something in the middle between touch screen and a mouse would be good - I've tried the trackballs and hate them, the tablets can be a bitch and I multitask way too much.

Would be cool to have: Simple three sensors you attach to your finger tips, thumb gets the cursor, left mouse click on your index, and right mouse on your middle (or whatever setup/hand), simple taps/double taps. A tablet for your finger tips... almost something like this but just simple small attachable sensors not a big clunky device.

I find with touch screen you never really know the sensitivity levels and it doesn't feel real, actually pushing something/clicking still feels right.

That's actually pretty interesting. I'm gonna buy it right now and try it out. I've already decided to take the Wacom Bamboo back... it just slows me down. I have another one of their regular tablets and it's a lot smoother than this crap.

Did some more digging around - check some of these out - pretty cool (and funny) concepts.

New age shit - eye to screen communication? blinking to click?
