Anyone watching the debates tonight?

Romney is a vapid halfwit silver spooning douchebag who would not know his ass from a hole in the ground as President of the United States.
Well said, yet this is exactly the rationale people have been using for the past 4 months as to why Obama would wipe the floor with Romney in a debate.

Since CNN started keeping track via polls in 1984 no candidate ever scored more than 60% in the "who won?" department.

According to CNN the halfwit notched a 67% last night.

Obama just met the honey badger.

Yeah, I haven't been convinced of the clear Obama win for a few months. I think more of the elites want Romney than Obama. But that's just me and they own both horses in the race anyway. The big difference I see is Romney can deliver severe austerity that Obama just can't get away with and it looks like that's the way tptb want to push things.

I didn't actually watch the debates - working again. But the most interesting thing for me was listening to my seniors talk about the candidates before and after. These are the youngest voters, and granted they are from Texas, but most felt strongly (often for no reason at all, really) that Obama was the right choice.

Today, they were debating real issues and the consensus seemed to be that Obama was still "cooler", but he couldn't get away from one or two issues and Romney said some things that made sense to these otherwise not-very-informed voters. I'm not sure where that would leave them percentage-wise, but it did make for interesting discussion and eavesdropping by the teacher in the room. (Note: As the teacher, I had to be careful to question without bias, so I listened primarily without adding fact or opinion.)

I play tennis a day or two a week with really old people down at a local park. They're fun people, but one asked the other "Did you watch the debate last night? If so, what did you think?" The guy said "Yeah, ::stuttered::, I think uh, Romney was very aggressive.."

It's not just young people, it's people of every fucking age that honestly don't have a clue. It's not so much about age, as it is about the motivation to go beyond the news anchors of TV and try to research and learn more about economics/politics/philosophy in general. One of the biggest road blocks that prevents people from opening their mind and wanting to learn more are the major news networks. People think they're getting balanced information, when in reality we know they're not.

The only saving grace in any of this is the internet and its expansion; good luck if it can ever remain as free/open as it is now though.

You're a Canadian
Ok, you got me there.

who once spent plenty of time commenting on US politics
Because this is a primarily American forum, where people discuss American politics, if any politics at all. On other forums, I have probably discussed more EU or Canadian politics. As an anarchist, I don't spend much time talking about politics in particular, except to say it sucks.

and campaigning for Ron Paul.
I don't want to send you on another one of your quote finding sprees, but I think you have me confused with Luke. I don't campaign for Ron Paul because I don't want to see people vote.

If you're going to vote, it might have been worthwhile to vote for Ron Paul, but in retrospect, he's sold out his ideals for convenience, as everyone in politics inevitably does.

I did campaign very hard for Ron Paul in 2007 when he ran a genuine information campaign.

Given that so many of you are Americans, and a smaller group, belligerent fanatical nationalists, I do my best not to criticize the American people in particular.

VOTER TURNOUT
I can assure you that voter turnout in Canada is much lower than 74%. I imagine these numbers are suspect. Particularly Australia @ 81% because it is mandatory by law to vote there.

Read all three pages and I still don't know who to vote for. Thanks for nothin, WF!!!
Mission accomplished!!!

Seriously, you and I know you're going to vote for Obama.

I was going to watch the debate, but then I realized my time would be better spent masturbating to those vintage National Geographics I found in the dumpster behind the library.

Although, I have to admit to being somewhat impressed by Mittens. He seems like the perfect candidate for our times. I mean, a former bust out artist who can wax lyrical about helping small businesses, with nary and eye twitch or blush of shame. You usually need to visit a maximum security prison to find a sociopath of that magnitude.

But I'm sure everything will work out for the best.
