Applebee's accidentally serves alcohol to a toddler.

I don't know what it is with people being so sue-happy in the US.

Stupid mix up. An apology is sufficient (as the toddler just got a sip and nothing bad happened to him) and no one should be fired for this.

If I would have been fired for every mix-up I've ever done....

Probably linkbait done by a shady PR company for applebee's

All publicity is good publicity eh

How does this even happen? Any time I have gone to applebees the kids drinks go into a some kind of sippy cup and margaritas go a big ass margarita glass. Or maybe they do shit different in Michgan but I doubt it. My guess is momma is trying to get off da welfare and pulled a little switch- a-roo

Definitely something missing from this story. I have never given my childs sippy cup to the waiter/waitress to have them fill it. I always ordered and then poured the drink into the sippy cup myself, after checking.

Edit: The juice was an alcoholic concoction that was stored in a mislabeled container, according to a Madison Heights Police Department news release. http://articles.cnn.com/2011-04-11/...hol_1_apple-juice-toddler-restaurant?_s=PM:US

The fact that there are actually people out there that are outraged by this proves that we are turning into a politically correct society of soppy vaginas.

What if the toddler drank more than a few sips, and something bad happened. I'm sure your attitude would be different. Or if it was your own child?

"Outraged" is not the word I would use to describe my feeling about this incident, but I would find out who caused the mixup and fire their ass. Restaurant workers are a dime a dozen and there's no room for retards who can't label a drink correctly, pour apple juice instead of a margarita, or whatever the hell happened.

"It said that, according to the Madison Heights Police Department's report, a field test of the child's drink at the restaurant had registered a 0.014.

"This contrasts with what's been widely reported and claimed in the lawsuit -- that the child had a blood alcohol content of .10 and was rushed to the hospital. According to the police report, the EMTs checked the child at the restaurant and released him."

Even if it was .1 that's barely over the .08 limit to drive in some places. Hardly intoxicated. At worst the kid had a good buzz going.

Soppy vaginas indeed.

I can't edit my post but this shit just pisses me off and to continue on with the quote; it's a bunch of "what ifs"...

what if he drank a few more sips?

he didn't

what if something bad happened?

it didn't

what if it was your child?

it wasn't

So to summarize: Someone made a mistake. It was caught before anything bad happened. The child was checked out and given a clean bill of health and sent home. The parents now think they've won the fucking lottery.

It's a fine example everything that's wrong with the litigious society full of entitlists that the world has turned into.

The reason I mention those "what ifs" is to point out that the potential for something bad to happen existed. Luckily everything turned out just fine. However, the particular outcome (i.e. the kid having a few sips and being barely intoxicated) should have no bearing on how "bad" the actions were (unknowingly serving an alcoholic drink instead of apple juice).

View the event independent of the fact that a 15 month old kid received the drink, and that he had a few sips and was ok, etc.

Instead look only at the fact that somebody ordered apple juice and instead got an alcoholic drink -- and the server didn't even know that what he was serving had alcohol in it. That simply shouldn't happen. Like I said, restaurant workers are a dime a dozen and I'd instantly replace whoever fucked up.
