A little basic, but a good primer/refresher on building landing pages that get the job done (here) The basic parameters are things most people already know, (short & logical content, clean focused layout, minimal links, and action above fold) but there are some interesting data shared on each from a recent LP study by Silverpop, as well as some simple explanations for what each means and implies for design.

Thank goodness not advocating the 10million line scrolling landing pages with heaps of arrows and buttons

Could you get someone to commit to a 500$ purchase above the fold? I highly doubt it. You could capture the lead, though.

When selling on a landing page, you're writing sales copy, which is different; you need to handle every possible objection, etc.

The cliche and ubiquitous quintessential slimy e-book sales page has it's place - as both short and long copy do.

I'm bored.
