Are You a Steampunk? WTF Are You Doing?

LOL, you know how he got that pic, he posted some other stupid shit one day, and I red bricked him, and he started crying, then changed his avatar to that apparently for whatever reason. He's still Mad.

LOL, davidle, U Still Mad?

hey internet whizkid forum nerd, do you think virtual red bricks are going to affect my profits in the physical brick and mortar antiquing biz? if it weren't for these fucking steampunks i'd be killing it right now....in the brick niche especially. here you are giving me individual bricks when i've already got brick lawn ornaments, brick tables, and reclaimed brick credenzas. how about you stick a brick or two up your own ass? how's that? since you love bricks so much...

Okay, so here goes nothing. I am an avid antiquer and have been for the past 20 years. Not only is it a hobby, it's basically my profession at this point. Anyways, I submit this to you (accept it how you will):

Y'all are ruining priceless treasures by destructing the original artifact (the antique) and modifying them with bullshit.

Take that how you will, but it's what I firmly believe. You're essentially going to these shops and wreaking havoc on pieces that will never be the same again.
Don't get it? Well, let me put it to you another way. Imagine I have a 1968 Ford Mustang GT. I buy it and then put in a 2001 Honda Civic engine because it is "more modern" and I like "blending the new with the old". I summarily destroy the old engine by parting it out and generally laying waste to it, and proceed to do this to 70% of the 1968 Ford Mustang GTs in circulation.

So, what happens next? Well, since there are less original GTs on the market, the prices skyrocket and the weekend-antiquer (squeezed out of the market due to economic concerns) has to find another hobby.

You turn priceless artifacts into utter trash. Please. Stop.

Uh......where the FUCK is your damn Marketing Mindset?!!!

I mean really???

Ok, a little marketing tid bit for ya.

If you KNOW the source/cause of a Market Price increase you can then take ADVANTAGE of it.

EXAMPLE: A buddy of mine is a Commodity Broker and back in 2004 he told me to BUY ALL THE GOLD I COULD AFFORD for the next 3 to 5 years. I asked why and he explained to me what China was doing, the current output of existing mines, possible un-mined gold still out there, and about the Technology Industry's use of GOLD.

So, those who followed his advice have profited and those who didn't know or didn't follow his advice are now PISSED and STUNNED at what's going on with the prices in the Gold Market.

PROOF:

Previous Update: Friday, January 3, 2003 - Gold above $US 350

Previous Update: Thursday, December 28, 2006 - UPTURN - GOLD ABOVE $US 635

Previous Update: Monday, December 28, 2009 - UPTURN - GOLD ABOVE $US 1105

Previous Update: Friday, March 1, 2013 - GOLD BELOW $US 1575

SOURCE: Gold Chart in $US - Since 2004

So, if you listened and bought a lot EARLY you made the most money. But there was still a window for those who saw the TREND later. Even if you didn't start buying until 2009 you would still have made 50% return on your investment.

Not as nice as the 438% return if you'd bought in 2003, but still a NICE profit.

SO........

Grow to LOVE your Steam Punk Brethren. Hang out with them. Learn what they BUY and DESTROY regularly and then get to that stuff BEFORE THEM!!!

If you see the Steam Punk "Trend" grabbing up certain antiques then YOU get out there and grab a bunch also. Then when your Steam Punk Buddies make the items SCARCE, you can BANK on the items you picked up.

Now, I know you don't want to hear this, BUT....it means that you will have to do WHAT EVERY SINGLE SUCCESSFUL MARKETER in the WORLD does......and that is.....

TAKE THE FUCKING TIME TO PREDICT/ANTICIPATE YOUR MARKET!!!!

I mean Come On!!!!

This a Goddamn Marketing Forum and YOU are in here Whining about the VALUE of your items being DRIVEN UP!!!!

Antiques are already scarce, so you have to be able to RESEARCH and HUNT for this stuff anyway. You have a 20 year head start.

STOP WHINING AND START HUSTLING!!!

Say this to yourself aloud about 10 times and hear how weak it is. Looking at the pics of the various steampunks, they surely have outwitted you and it's probably time to close up shop now.

claiming that steampunks have impacted the antiquities industry is like claiming that furries have put a strain on the cotton market.

If you are in the antique business to do what anyone should be in business for and that is to make money, why do you give a fuck what they do?

In fact I would want people to ruin all the damn things, cause well fucking up rare things, makes the things of that thing more rarer, which makes you more monies.

Either you are an antique tree hugging faggot or a complete moron. Either way come at me BRO

With the exception of basic survival necessities (food, water, shelter etc), value is entirely subjective. Clearly these product have more value to those interested in Steampunk once modified.

In their eyes, they have improved the object. The object is wasted just sitting there in a shop unmodified.
