I use skype quite a bit, for outsourcing or also recently chatting with a few peeps from wicked fire. It is pretty handy, I want to pick up that newer dual band speaker/cordless phone. Be nice to have a dedicated device rather than just from the computer.

Also, using multiple IM types is fine. I've got ICQ, AIM, MSN, GTalk and Y!. I use Adium on OSX, but pidgin is a great open source IM client that supports pretty much every type of IM service.

I really figured as much, fucking lame. I don't really need a cordless phone though, it'd only be used in my office. More interested in speaker phone and just having skype ran through that device.

I got a girlfriend I chat with on skype. Her mic is shotty. It's like when she gets closer to the computer it fades out. Would some sort of headset fix this or is it just her crappy computer and she's SOL ?

first try adjusting the sound settings. sounds like it's being automatically adjusted down. if that fails then just get a new mic.

Not sure when skype added this feature, but you can share screens now via skype calling, used it before with an aff and it worked great.
