As the screws slowly tighten

we are being manipulated into a more socialized, fascist, society with less freedom and prosperity for us and our cultural heirs.

That's the worst part of it, that the US in particular is creating this weird, unprecedented hybrid of all the worst and most oppressive models throughout history, with a spooky tech overlay to boot. It doesn't explicitly follow any single historical example in particular which makes it hard for people who need to label things to recognize the problems.

Damn good post. Well said.

...Thailand baby, Thailand...

There's a lot to be said for countries that are not yet "overdeveloped". It would be beyond laughable if the Thai government came out and said that you can't use cash for large purchases. But in highly developed countries like in Scandinavia, apparently, everyone just falls into line.

Cash, gold, barter - the old ways are the current ways around here. ATM/debit/credit also available if you like, as well as pay with your mobile phone. I'm sure it will go the way of the west in the future but the foreseeable future seems much more free here.
