Hey guys I am definitely very NEW to Affiliate Marketing. Anyways I am just getting started but I was wanting your opinions on whether or not it would be worth it for me to go to ASW. Money aside. I am talking for informational purposes only. Would I learn a lot? Or would I be so far behind it wouldn't even be worth my time? What is it like? Can people who are new to AM go or do they expect you to be an expert already? Anyways I don't mind paying the money at all I just want to know if I will learn a shit ton, should I sign up for all the courses, and will it help me? Also when I say beginner I mean. I only got accepted to one affiliate network and have promoted one offer so far which has only broke even. Still a LONG ways to go and a lot to learn. Your feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

That's pretty much all that happens at ASW.

Some people might disagree with me, but I doubt you'll learn much (if anything) as a newbie. Hell, I'm not so sure that established professionals learn anything super useful that wasn't posted somewhere online months before :D

It's mostly a great excuse to talk to the companies, make new friends, meet up with old friends, and party like a rockstar with said friends.

I've been posting older videos from Affiliate Summit: YouTube - affiliatetip's Channel

You can get a sense for how the breakout sessions go.

The agenda for ASW is up, and sessions are labeled as beginner, intermediate, and advanced: Affiliate Summit West 2011 Agenda

if you aren't making $1-2K/mo off AM then you have no business to be there.

btw shawn im still 18, i'm going to be using a fake florida drivers license, think you can sneak me in?

Actually it's good for the CPA nub as you can get signed up and approved in one sitting with whatever networks are there and establish a rapport with AMs. A good rapport with your AM can save you from a long, steep learning curve.

There are tons of benefits of attending, but learning some crazy internet marketing secrets is not one of them. Don't expect to return home and start kicking ass all of a sudden just cause you went to the conference.

One of the most valuable things to me when I first attended was seeing the internet marketing industry in real life. Prior to attending something like this, it's all sort of virtual and difficult to wrap your head around. Once you get to ASW and can put faces with the names and see all of the companies, their employees, and affiliates making their living off the interwebs, you'll likely start to take it a bit more seriously and be willing to invest more time/money into your business.

And of course the networking opportunities are unparalleled.

If you have the money then attend the sessions, if not just network like crazy. Go to the parties, the exhibit hall and the meet market. Ask questions, a lot of questions and listen! Some people will give you info, some people won't. Many of the pubs have huge egos and if they have a few drinks they will tell you a lot. So keep asking, keep drinking, and bring a slutty looking friend. A drunk pub, with a huge ego and hot girl flirting with him, he might as well give you his bank account info, not kidding.

Good luck!
