Atheists making a statement in the PA Capital

This billboard is the first example I have seen of Atheists behaving like homos. I can't imagine why these dudes thought this would go over better than it did, but perhaps they didn't. Quoting the bible to christians has never succeeded in converting any of them before... They have to be interested enough in the bible to read the whole thing for themselves if they are ever going to drop the faith.

Having said that, the article says that they placed this billboard in response to the State of PA declaring 2012 "the year of the Bible." -Which clearly runs afoul of the 1st amendment. If it you think otherwise, imagine if they had declared it the year of the Koran or the Torah.

So the takeaway here is that Atheists who care about the 1st amendment separations should stay vigilant and defend it through the proper channels. (i.e. filing a complaint)

I'm sure the vast majority of atheists would do exactly that, but sadly they don't make the news when they do so... Shit like this billboard of course just can't fail to be plastered across the press every single time, so people like Ly2 here will always think that this type of faggotry is common when the reality is that most of the time these things are solved without a fuss and the atheist responsible for solving them was NOT a faggot.

With respect,

The billboard doesn't prove there is no good, but it debunks the morrons in the US which claim the Bible provides a moral standart. When you finally get these christians to admit this isn't the case, you have gone a step forward.
And when we can go to the next stage:

Why do you believe in god? Do you have any arguments? Yes? Well, we have debunked them. No? OK, then why do you still believe in it? Because atheists can't disprove it?

Here the "with a probability bordering on certainty" argument comes into play, in short, the belief in god is standing in one line with alien believers, creationists, people who think we live in the matrix and Superman really existing.
So, when this has been established, religious people are down to "well, I do believe in it, and I'm not going to change that." BANG! Step by step, the amount of believers has been taken reduced heavily. And step by step, these people will be in the same line as other people believing in lunatic crap like "the driver shot Kennedy" or "no planes hit the WTC".

Once the belief in (with a probability bordering on certainty) nonexisting gods has been almost eliminated... Now with the (very often really stupid) moral values that come with it: They are open to critique now without the possiblity to block it with "it's gods word, yadayadayada". That's it! Religion has been eliminated.

What do I hear? You will never reach that point? Probably not (at least not fast), but with each step, we will have reduced religious believes and the harm that comes from them.

And no, people who believe in bullshit are not all retarded and stupid, in fact most are not. We psychologically (is this the word I'm looking for...? You get what I mean) all believe in some kind of bullshit, often in bullshit being harmful to ourselves and others) and it is often hard to desinfect ourselves fom these viruses. It's nothing to be ashamed of, that's why tons of people go to the psychologist. Religion is only another harmful virus that has been living with us for too long. Time to get rid of it.

tl&dr:
Step by step, people. Step by step.

great job!

I swear Atheist's today are a bunch of hipster faggots.

If you really are an atheist who gives a fuck what anyone else believes in. Putting these kind of billboards doesn't do shit. Just makes you look like a believer by saying "herp derp you're a loser if you don't believe in not believing in a god".

nice try, Christfag. just because you lump all atheists in with a popularly hated group doesn't make it so. most hipsters are hippy types who, while not ardently fundamental in their religious beliefs, tend to view all ideas as having equal merit.

translation: it's these type of wishy-washy religious moderates who let the US go to hell in a handbasket.

if all ideas are created equal, then being dumb is just as acceptable as being smart. superstition is just as good as science. denying evidence is just as valid as possessing evidence. being morbidly obese is just as acceptable as being healthy. having a high self-worth - while being a fucking lazy bastard - is just as good as achievement. believing in whatever a bronze-age cousin-fucker wrote down in his storybook millenniums ago is just as good as believing in what we actually know to be true.

anyways, why are you so mad? it's in your book. maybe they took it out of context? is there something to this godly quote that would make it more inspirational to the non-believer?

if you don't think shit like this will open some eyes, you're fooling yourself. 90% of bible-believing americans haven't even cracked open a bible. so, it's bound to come as a surprise to a 13-year-old black kid who somehow never heard that passage in church. now he won't go on to waste his life as a preacher/lobbyist for conservative nanny-staters Focus on the Family. groups like that like to ban things for all of us, you know. ;)

have fun sitting on Your Lord's Prick in Heaven...pansy. if you're lucky you might even get to suck His Cock! ;)

So you attack someones beliefs by saying, haha your a dumbass for believing in a book because it says this and this.

How does that change anything? The only thing it accomplishes is making them think they are that much better for not listening to the nay sayers. And it just makes atheists look like a bunch of know it all hipster faggots.

Either way, nobody wins. And your not converting anyone off the bible by being a pompous dick head to them.

I think you got it wrong, the target of those signs is not the hardcore believers but people who toy with the idea of religion.

And there is nothing wrong with people doing whatever they want (in regard to religion) to do in their homes (as long as they do not force/hurt anyone to do that), its the constant attempt to include everyone else to fit into the belief system that is annoying.

The day believers would understand that they do not need to force their way of life on others everyone will win, believers and non believers.
