Just got this email today...
So what, they will really demand all the papers now? Scheisse.
Dear ******,
We would like to inform you that the registration policy for .pro
domains has been tightened.
These changes also apply to already registered .pro Domains and because
you have at least one .pro domain please take this e-mail serious and
take your time to read it carefully.
A few months ago the major .pro domain registry sent out information
that the registration policies have been loosened. This was one of the
reasons that we decided to include this top level domain into our portal
easyname - Your professional domain and hosting partner.. As we noticed this top level domain was pleased
with a high popularity.
Recently we received the information that the major .pro registry was
taken over by Afilias LLC. The new owner wants to keep the initially
collaborated rules which are as followed:
When registering, it is required that the domain-owner has to state his
professional designation. On demand of the registry the domain holder
has to prove this with documents issued by the state.
Additionally the domain owner has to belay a membership with a
union/association/chamber or any other state approved institutes and
that this represents the interests of the owner and he is under their
supervision. Professions that meet this requirement are for example
Doctors or lawyers.
A trade certificate, commercial register report, tax assessment notice
or similar is not enough as evidence. If there is an inspection through
the registry and they decide that the documents in this case are not
acceptable, the domain gets deleted. A refund of the paid service is
ruled out.
Please mind that Easyname can not verify your documents beforehand and
cannot ensure that all documents provided pass the test through the
registry.
Additional and more Information for the new registration policy for .pro
domains can be found with the following link:
.PRO Agreement Appendix 11 | Registration Restrictions
It is also not impossible that already registered domains will be
reviewed by the registry. Should the above mentioned guidelines and
rules not match and the needed documents cannot be provided, the
respective domain will be deleted.
For further advice, please feel free to contact us at any time.
