I thought I was out smarting adwords but it looks like I was wrong.

To get around all the QS bullshit I often point my adwords ads to a page on my site that's good and relevant but isn't a sales pitch by any means. I dynamically capture the keyword and on my "nice" quality page, I pick it up, if it's one of the keywords I use, I re-direct the user to the sales pitch without them ever knowing the difference.

Basically, my clicks are going to the sales pitch but I though ad-words was going to the quality site. Well yesterday I finished coding some better tracking tools and found that AdsBot-Google (+Why does AdWords visit my ad's landing page? - Google AdWords Help Center) had visited by sales page..

Now, nowhere on my site do I link to my sales page other then in the re-direct if X keyword exists.. somehow the QS bot has found it.

I'd like to know how I can keep it the fuck off. I know it's ip in this case so sure I could check for that and send it elsewhere, but I imagine it uses a lot of diff ips. I'm also thinking I can check for "AdsBot-Google" as the browser and just send it off should it exist..

What do you guys think?

That is pretty smart.

But why do you care of the bot goes to a "sales letter" page? There's no way it can tell that's a sales letter page, as long as a manual reviewer doesn't see what you are doing you are fine.

IP cloaking is the safest way to go. Fantomas for example has a pretty big database of Google bot IPs.

Or, AdsBot should obey robots.txt, so you can just disallow your sales page in it.

Thanks, but you shouldn't disallow adwords bot in robots ever, it'll hurt your QS even worse.

DonDadda: My sales page isnt as content rich so it's likely google wouldn't rank it with as high of a QS. It's more like a squeeze page into an offer.

Well, you'll get manually reviewed, sooner or later. I have tested this more than once in the past year. And when you do get manually reviewed, you probably don't know IP reviewer is using. At least in some cases it looks like Google lets people do these checks at home so they are same IPs your regular surfer uses.

If you didn't realize this without me telling you I think you better give it up because you aren't there yet to play the dark side game. And oh, playing the dark side game means not getting caught... Keep studying, you'll get there :) Actually answer to 99% foolproof Adwords cloaking is almost way too easy :D

I'll get there, I've only been working on this for 2 days.

I know adwords manually reviews ads, I'm more or less just looking to beat the bot for now. Up until recently I've been able to slide by but QS just keeps on cracking down so it's time to focus on it..

How about some tips to this fool proof method? ;)
