Of course you can create blogs that look like landing pages and landing pages that look like blogs.

But... When most of us think of blogs, we have a general look and feel in mind. That general layout is nice for reading, scrolling through content, and with interesting content will attract repeat traffic. In addition, blogs usually come equipped with nice promotional ability. Search engines love them, other site owners link to them. That general layout typically converts worth crap. Focus is pulled to text/video and away from ads/offers.

A landing page is typically a simple focused design with one purpose. Hands down, that approach to marketing will close more sales/get more leads/generate more clicks.

So... it's easier to get traffic with blogs and easier to get conversions with landing pages. You can look at this and say "crap, IM is impossible" or you can get to work and figure out the ways to make it profitable for you.
 


I agree that there are many factors that are WAY more important than the platform.

The skill of your copywriter is one that comes to mind first.
