Best four year degree that can tie into affiliate marketing

Lots of folks on here are making bank without a 4-year or even 2 year degree. I'd bet a good percentage of them are making more than you think with NO high school at all.

How dumb do you have to be to get a degree to do affiliate Marketing???

Sounds like a bit of brainwashing has taken place here...

Winner winner chicken dinner. Formal education is worthless. Yes, I have a four year degree. But obtaining that degree caused me to miss the rebill boat. You got to make your own decisions.

Yay, I won. Whaddo I get? ;)

Seriously, I spent too long at university before I realized it was all a scam to extort money out of my parents or the federal government in the form of a scholarship or grant.

I did get laid a bit more while there though, so I guess one good thing that came out of spending those many thousands of dollars was something a few cheap hookers could have done for me just as well.

Bioinformatics (which is biology + computer science + statistics)

You want the programming and statistics bit. Biology is good too because affiliate marketing is a bit like science: generate hypothesis => test hypothesis ==> profit.

Economics will help you understand how business works.

Or, if you are not very smart, consider Psychology.

Computer Science. or the other option, you can just take some courses like web design, and you can save your money for invest in IM. But there are three things must you have, the desire to learn, try, and succeed.

gonna go with Physics and Math again. I have my BS in Physics with a minor in Comp Sci and am now getting two masters, one is my MBA.

Misconception -- formal degree in a poorly chosen discipline is worthless. Some things would just take too long to learn on your own, trust me.

But obtaining that degree caused me to miss the rebill boat. You got to make your own decisions.

Man, blame your laziness for missing the boat. Sure I took a leave from University when the numbers got a bit too ridiculous, but I sure as fuck made sure not to miss any opportunities while in it.

^^ this dude knows what the fuck is up.

Use your IM money to go to school. If you guys have learned anything from affiliate marketing, it should be to diversify and not put all your eggs in one basket.

What happens if one day the industry gets regulated to hell and the affiliate lifestyle is no longer viable for many of us? Are you going to go work at walmart?

I won't, I'll be making > 100k because I went to school and picked a good major. In my case, actuarial science.

This is actually the exception to what I said above.

If you can leverage your time and income to pay for school, getting a professional degree (e.g. one that could be easily be applied to a career path- not English or History, unless you want to be a teacher) will never hurt to have.

I have thought hard about getting an MBA or JD from one of the schools in town because I have time and money. The stickerprice on an education is much better if you aren't spending 5-10% on interest year over year because you can pay in cash.

That said- most people can barely hold down a part time job and go to school, much less manage IOs, building landers, testing, tracking, etc. while simultaneously stressing about the reading load for Torts. We're talking about the truly rare self-motivated individual here.

I'm going to have to call bullshit on this pro-school talk.

They still don't teach you anything there that you can use, say like, how to make money... Universities are basically a big racket where they teach you more and more useless things hoping to get you to stick with it long enough to finally give you a degree that a boss would be impressed with.

And then what? A BOSS? Seriously? Fuckabunchathat! I'll die before I work to make someone else rich again.

If you want to safeguard yourself against unemployment, EMPLOY YOURSELF, FOOLS!

Arrogance comes with maturity..

If you own a large company that you've made yourself then surely being a Dr would be preferable to being a Mr?

For me Dr represents knowledge in a subject and when your looking for expert employees for a large company I'm sure they wouldn't want to work for a nobody.

I don't think education can ever be looked upon negatively but then again the less of you that go out and get degrees the better it is for me :)

what? how is being a ph.d helpful at all to running your own company? this is a ridiculous statement. people generally don't give a shit about who they work for -- they care about getting paid. people arent looking for their potential employer to have a fucking ph.d...just look at facebook for example.

seriously bro you are brainwashed. even the "the less of you that go out and get degrees the better it is for me" -- that is a joke. have fun getting your degree and then getting crushed in business by a high school drop out.

get this college degree bullshit out of here, c'mon now

I live in a neighborhood full of Doctors and Lawyers and other executive types. I laugh as they all get into their Mercedes every morning and leave for work. Mr, Dr, Sir, whatever you want to call it, these guys are top in their fields, and yet they still have to get out of bed every morning, get in their car, drive to work and put in 8-10 hours a day just like every other idiot out there. I have a close friend with a Doctorate (Doctorate of Pharmacology) and I still earn 10X what he does in a year ... and yeah it pisses him off he went to school for 8 years to earn 1/10th of what I do, I had to fuck my Algebra teacher just to graduate high-school.

So if you're going to school to make a better living, don't waste your time. If you want a once in a lifetime experience, and to make yourself a little smarter, and a much better problem solver then I say go for it. I'm just surprised no one has mentioned a marketing degree for a Internet marketer.

I didn't say it's going to help I gave an opinion, big difference.

Lord Alan Sugar > Mr Alan Sugar

WTF? No... Money equals money, not eight years wasted learning irrelevant shit.

Sounds like their brainwashing worked perfectly. Enjoy it in the middle class with lots of struggle and debt.

I don't think education can ever be looked upon negatively
Although this sounds smart, it's utter rubbish. I can't count all the ways that it is a lie but the top three are:

1. You can only learn so much in your lifetime. Why spend 1/8th of it learning something bad when you could be learning something good?

2. Who's definition of "an education" are you going by? Sounds to me like you value 'an education' to be the best slave you can be.

3. This is exactly what the university scammers would want you to think.

I do, in fact, look upon the type of education you've mentioned here negatively.

Affiliate marketing = salesman,, learn marketing to sell, economics to be profitable, and english so you can write a sales pitch.. Not much has changed in the past 100+ years.. Lastly, do the work and get some experience.

Okay well I'm 21, graduate in 6 months, no debt and never been employed so judge your own life I have nothing to prove to you.

Back to the original question ... consider business with media as that's inevitably what your working in, you don't need the mathematics of computer science to sell yet concepts such as visual design and connotations of colours, etc would greatly help.

Okay well I'm 21, graduate in 6 months, no debt and never been employed so judge your own life I have nothing to prove to you.
Not to me, but maybe to your banker.

Good luck to you. Since you're here on Wickedfire already, I'm going to have to give you the benefit of the doubt and guess you'll be unlearning that crap and using what you've learned here to make some good money within a couple of years.

I got a degree in Marketing and I use absolutely 100% none of it for my Internet Marketing efforts. Take that for what it is worth.
