probably about 70% of the time I will be wearing these inside, but I will be also wearing them outside in public sometimes too, so I don't want to look too alienated. Sennheiser seem really nice, but besides one or two, their physical look is terrible...I like the sony DJ ones, that fatbat recommended, I might have to give them a shot, they're fairly cheap.

Also i'm going to try to see the beats by dre, studio and solo, and see how they feel, although I read reviews about they put too much bass into the music. But I guess it all depends on what my ears like the best when it comes to "too much" bass.

Thanks for the help, I will continue my hunt for headphones and maybe post a review if I get any that are review worthy, good or bad.

the $100 sennheisers. Keep in mind if you have a shitty sound card, don't buy really expensive headphones ($250+), cause while they'll make a difference, your sound card will hold them back.

hd-555 is what i have, sound great.. you can get an x-fi xtreme for $50-60 if you are currently using onboard sound or something else horrible

My macbook pro, and iphone will be the sound sources for my headphones, I assume they're not the best sound cards, but fairly good. I'm starting to lean towards the hd 555 the most right now, best buy has them so I might pick them up tomorrow if they're in stock and willing to match amazon's price.

My AT headphones are well-worn to say the least. I use these puppies for everything: critical listening, home recording, etc. The studio I frequent also uses AT headphones.

Anything from Audio Technica and Sennheiser will be quality and a lot cheaper than the competition.

Just so you guys know...I ended up getting the HD 555, Nice headphones, but the wire is way too long.

Sennheiser no question. I didn't read the recommendations, I'm just saying they are the shit for headphones.

Barman speaks the truth. I listen to music about 12 hours a day sometimes more. The best head phones for noise cancellation I have used are Sennheiser, I am using them right now while sitting in a data center, I can barely hear the background noise over them and its one of the loudest environments.

If I go to the gym it cancels everything.

I also have a regular pair without noise cancellation they both work great and the video quality is great.
