Next year some time I'm putting some heavy consideration into moving to a state with no state tax. If it was small peaches and cream we're talking about I'd prolly stay put, but when there's six figures in the mix, it's rather profitable to do it for at least a couple years.

I'm talking with a couple of friends who kind of want to get an affiliate marketing house together with like 5-6 guys and just get a huge house and do this. The only question is...where?

After some research it looks like Seattle would be the coolest choice. Doesn't really ever snow (although you can go snowboarding in mountains if you want), temperate climate (just lots of rain), cheap real estate (from what I've looked at), get some nice land to ride ATVs on, etc.

Florida is too hot and full of old people.
Nevada is a hot desert, nothing there.
Wyoming, Dakotas, and Texas all seem not really exciting.

Those are just some thoughts on why I wouldn't want to live in any of the other tax-free states.

Ideas?

When I lived in Portland, OR, I knew a lot of people who lived in Vancouver and commuted to Portland to shop. No income tax in WA and no sales tax in OR. I may have that mixed up. But that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Dunno about the other states, but if you do reconsider Florida, seriously consider Tampa. Lived there for 2 years and it was great. Miami/Ft. Laud area is annoying to me. It's TOO Florida, if you know what I mean. Jacksonville is another city I lived in and it's...ok...I guess. Very bland. Just a really huge, faceless suburb, really.

Why bother staying in the US if you're running an Internet business? Move to Hong Kong like I did.

Hong Kong has some of the lowest taxes in the world. Corporate profits tax is at 16.5% and personal income taxes top out at 16%. There is also no sales tax or capital gains tax.

Crime rates are very low here too and Hong Kong is considered one of the safest cities in the world.

Do it. Seattle is a great place to live. And like vinny said, you can commute down to Portland to go shopping with no sales tax.

I actually just moved to Orlando, FL about 2 weeks ago and a big part of my decision to move was because of no state income tax. I am living right in the center of downtown Orlando, I'd say that the majority of the people living in this area look like they are my age and I'm 22. FL is known for its old people but I am around many more young people here than I was living in CT, so that must really just depend on which part of FL you decide to go to.

Dude get your rain coat ready and granola girls and overweight single mothers in seattle and Porkland bad move not worth the 100k savings hot latin chicks and cheap real estate in Costa Rica and Panama

Problem is if the IRS thinks you moved for Tax Reasons they can keep taxing you for another ten years or so.

As someone who grew up in Vancouver, which is like 5 hour drive from Seattle, I would say go for Seattle.

You get used to the weather, and believe me, it is a million times more agreeable to be rained on than it is to be under 5 feet of snow for 6 months of the year. Granted, it's not as good weather as any of those other states, but the weather will grow on you.

Also, the Pacific northwest is beautiful geographically.

Yes^^. I was going to recommend this and yes there is a Vancouver in WA, it's a pretty big suburb of Portland.

Screw Seattle. Go a few hours east to the other side of the mountains: Dry weather (although not quite desert) and mountains galore.

Wenatchee is a fairly nice place (if I'm remembering it correctly).
