best place to travel in Europe this summer

I come from the UK, have spent 5 or 6 summers in France, been to at least 6 different places in Spain, been to a bunch of other European countries and now live in Italy.

Avoid Cyprus, it's full of sun-burned beer swilling Brits and Russians (hate the place), Malta is cool and everyone speaks English, though it is small and quite crowded. It is cheap though.

Avoid all of Eastern Europe - the food and service totally sucks.

The one place I would recommend to you is Istanbul. Amazing city. Maybe go there for 3 or 4 days and then take-off to a small resort from there.

Btw, the most boring place in the whole of Europe imo is Luxembourg. God ... what a bore that place is.

Ibiza will be very expensive, just to warn you if you don't have much. Iirc, it's £50-100 ($100-200) just for entry to a club.

Yeah, that's not really true. The most we paid was €20 to get into Pacha and Space and the smaller venues don't even have cover. Drinks aren't cheap in the big clubs (€12-€16 ish) but you can always get topped up elsewhere before you go. We did have VIP with bottle service at Pacha one time and it was like €150 each split between 6 or 7 people and a good ten people had come and gone without contributing and it was pretty much all you could drink. You can go enjoy the beach parties and take your own bottle and party favours and have a great time.

Really? Damn. Ah well, Malia's already booked. Sounds like I'll head out to Ibiza next year. Thanks :)

Everyone's answers seem to be centered around partying...what about for those of us that actually has a girlfriend and wants to chill? We're thinking about Rome but it seems like summer would be crowded as fuck there.

^ gayest post on wickedfire

barcelona has pretty sick nightlife, amsterdam is pretty sick... go to both

Scotland. We have hills, farms and wind.

Second this. Alcohol, nightlife, girls and beaches (dress warmly).

But seriously, for the girls go to ukraine, interesting touristy shit go to italy, nice place with slightly more normal people then go to Germany and go to Amsterdam for the lulz.

Oh and btw, Greece's prices have not gone down (they are still on Euro, money hasn't auto-corrected itself by devaluing). If you want tons of bang for your buck go to Ukraine, Slovakia or the Czech Republic (getting a little more expensive now though).

I went to Ibiza last May. I recommend for anyone who has not been.

Might be going to Tomorrowland this upcoming summer in Belgium.

Going to Aruba next month for a week. I love warm sunny weather :D

For party destinations...

Ibiza (The Balearic Islands)
Magaluf (Majorca/The Balearic Islands)

Ayia Napa (Cyprus)

Kavos (Corfu/Greece)
Kos (Greece)
Malia (Crete/Greece)
Zante (Greece)

Some of these places might be a little too chavvy, not too sure what the crowds are like these days. I assume it's just full of binge drinking that usually leads to trouble. Easy to get a lay in any of these places, but bag up lol. It's mostly Brits giving these places a bad name.

Ibiza is different than all of these places though. Although there is lots of drinking in some areas, it is still a hotspot for the best DJs and clubbers are there for the music before anything else. Cafe Mambo is fantastic, always a great vibe with no idiots and you'll have someone like Axwell, Eric Prydz, Pete Tong or whoever else playing out in this small bar to get the night going.

Rome is fantastic but it's also quite manic and yes in the summer it will be very crowded, hot and expensive.
