I think what's most fascinating about looking at these signs is the sheer volume of misconceptions the average liberal has been brainwashed with. They are almost 100% disconnected from true reality.

satire -
noun
the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or the like, in exposing or deriding vice, folly, etc.

It's only satire when they get called out for circlejerking (which is all this is), otherwise the attitude is 100% real and smug.

The funny part to me is 6-8 months ago when healthcare legislation was rammed through, the same crowd had the attitude of "Fuck you we'll work without you, fuck working together". Now a few days before a slaughter of an election, the tone has changed to "We need bipartisanship!".

The tea party has been fucking destroyed by fundamentalists so that's as good as dead, but these rallies and counter rallies from both sides are ridiculous.

The smuggest person in the world can hold up a sign of Sarah Palin riding on a moose towards Russia while firing a gun. That doesn't mean that they think she literally does that in "true reality", which was what Hellblazer seemed to be implying.

This video sums up the rally nicely. Also: Yusuf Islam, a man who called for the death of some man for insulting his religion, singing for peace (I lol'd hard at this). Irrelevant comedy. Teenagers circlejerking to internet jokes. Dildos being sold and communist pamphlets given out. No one knows wtf they went for, until the end when Jon Lebowitz bullshitted a point for the rally (he created the rally the same way). A few liberals stayed there for hours upon hours to pick up the trash just to manufacture a comparable cleanliness to the Beck rally.

The whole thing was embarrassing, really. Liberals are out of their minds.

Agreed.

But I have to admit, that this "it's only satire" argument is smart. It's almost the same as the "this is un-american" argument. Just a complete pointless excuse to avoid any real discussion.
Reminds me back in high-school, when one could weasel out from any argument just by adding "haha I was just kidding, haha you fell for it". Worked fine at least until someone got slapped in the face :xmas-smiley-016:.

^ The use of satire doesn't necessarily mean that they aren't trying to make points that they wouldn't defend.

The "Obama is not the devil, I am" sign could be a way of expressing "Obama is not as evil as Glen Beck says he is." I doubt the sign holder really thinks they are the devil, or believes that Beck actually thinks Obama is.

The guy holding the gang bang sign was probably really looking for one though.

It's really not just liberals, the entire political class needs to be lined the fuck up and executed. Both sides are absolutely fucking ridiculous. The fact these people are walking free and not in prison shows you how fucked up shit really is.

I would literally rather have erect and barman run the country than anyone currently in power. And just for good measure, appoint sumit to head up foreign relations. Imagine a meeting with summit at a table with world leaders.

As for the rally...

This was overblown - watch carefully. She lunged at Paul, so she was taken down (understandable). The man's foot was on her and appears to slip, like a stomp at her head.
Riiiiighhhhhhhhhttttt!!! Two guys pushing a GIRL down like that and then third one putting his leg on her like she is some kind of wrestler who can't be held down. How courageous of them... you are right, it's overblown. But thanks for proving the point I was trying to make above.

PS: Since I don't have much expectation of the guy I quoted (read: h-e-l-l-b-l-a-z-e-r) understanding it, here's it in simpler words -- the brainwashing goes both ways. The extremists on both sides of spectrum are equally brainwashed (for some ideas, here is my old post: http://pastebin.com/x5QY79WX )

And the teabaggers are not just brainwashed idiots like liberals but rather brainwashed idiotic gun-slinging thugs who would rather treat women like animals because they don't agree with their ideology.

For them respect is only if you agree with us. At least the leftist geeks don't throw women wearing "God Hates Fags" tshirts and try to keep them down with their feet. The leftist geeks are also delusional and too idealistic in their believes.

That said, had it been any liberal person (I hate the distinction since I really don't believe in this one, but still) was treating a girl like this, people at Fox would be shouting Talibalization of Dems and showing the fotage of the leftist Nazis non-stop.

Edit: Quote Excerpt Re: Brainwashing.

Step 5: Set Up an Us-Versus-Them Dynamic. The group is now large and thriving, a magnet attracting more and more particles. If you are not careful, though, inertia will set in, and time and boredom will demagnetize the group.

To keep your followers united, you must now do what all religions and belief systems have done: create an us-versus-them dynamic.

First, make sure your followers believe they are part of an exclusive club, unified by a bond of common goals. Then, to strengthen this bond, manufacture the notion of a devious enemy out to ruin you. There is a force of nonbelievers that will do anything to stop you. Any outsider who tries to reveal the charlatan nature of your belief system can now be described as a member of this devious force.

If you have no enemies, invent one. Given a straw man to react against, your followers will tighten and cohere. They have your cause to believein and infidels to destroy.

Obviously, working very well on Hellboy.

I enjoy your subtle racism, but most non-retards already know "Jon" is a Jew and "John" is a Christian. I would stick with writing Barack Hussein Obama needlessly.

Also, I'd be interested to see the comparisons on trash cleanup between the two rallies... I assume your info comes from a parks department report and not just something you (or more likely someone else) have completely made up...

I browsed the top 30 signs and they all seemed reasonable to me. There was nothing slanderous and most of them were either funny or on point IMO. Everything was really tame compared to the crazy shit you see in campaign attack ads.

Yeah, this sign was really funny and really on point.

Rallies are always like this.

There are uptight individuals who really believe in "The Cause" and are totally serious about everything.

There are people there just to counter-rally, and just generally be hateful.

We've got the lookey loos, the nerds from Reddit, trolls, people on the fence of what they believe in, republicans, democrats, libertarians, socialists, communists, the right and left, comedians, actors, politicians, and everything in between.

It's a mass gathering with cliques and differing factions, under the banner of Restoring Sanity and Keeping Fear Alive, both satirical and serious at the same time; it just shows that hidden behind the comedy is a real political strategy and movement.

Well planned and thought out, meant to stir opinions and get people thinking, not just in terms of good, bad, liberal, conservative...but just thinking, pulling people from the rut that has been stagnating American minds for so long.

Yeah, this sign was really funny and really on point.

There are tons of examples throughout the world of private businesses running these things better than government. We don't NEED government to do these things and we're better off if they didn't.

Stewart is a middle name and Lebowitz is his real last name. He changed it and also had surgery on his nose. I think it's a good idea to rub it in his face since he is self-hating.
