anyone use Fraps or is that just us in the gaming community

Fraps is for efficiently streaming graphical line by line output which is specifically built for gaming. It's only good at recording an active window (the game) and doesn't have the featureset for making screen captures of anything outside of games.

The other programs in this thread are much more productive for what you want to do.
