Then by that measure we're looking at Meet the Press (longest running), The Super Bowl (highest % year over year of watchers) or some other similar measure going to Friends, Law & Order, The Simpsons, etc.

But that'd just be boring.

The early episodes of the US version were basically the same thing, just watered down and fit for the basic cable masses. In fact some episodes were literally shot for shot the same.
