best way to find out how many backlinks your site has?

where is the best place to go to find out how many backlinks your site has (most precise way of doing it).

i know you can go to google and type link:yoursite.com, but I hear there are better ways of doing this.

None of those automated tools are EVER accurate. They gave me a $13K appraisal on what I thought was a throw-away domain that I was considering selling cheap or letting expire.

Yahoo site explorer seems to be the most accurate. Sometime hotbot (!) actually shows more, but it's wildly different mostly.

Google is obviously not very accurate for this kind of thing.
