Best Way to Reach College Kids?

I noticed a girl offering to put up flyers at her school on fiverr this morning, I bet there are quite a few of those type of gigs.

Writers at college newspapers have NOTHING to write about. Blah blah parking, blah blah tuition, etc... If your site is actually interesting and there is an obvious way for them to tell a story (while connecting it to the school in some way), try emailing writers/editors directly with a "Have you considered doing a story the gay sex parties that 100's of BYU students are arranging via mysite.com?"

I'm Surprised no one mentioned .edu forum marketing via scrapebox... Every Uni has a forum, right? Some are harder to register at than others... If it's possible to do so without involving faculty, scrapebox can do it and help you post to them all.

I tried to launch a site at my uni once. I slid a post card under every dorm room door. My first attempt at "direct mail." It had a full color picture of a duck on one side and just the url and tagline on the other in black and white.

It cost like $100 to buy a few thousand cards. Took two days walking up and down halls to canvas the entire place. UMass Amherst has 25k undergrads. Each dorm room has 1-3 students. I was pretty surprised how little time it took. Just threw headphones on and walked the halls.

I got as many visitors as the number of postcards I handed out. I wouldn't say 100% response rate because each card reached more than 1 person. And people kept the cards because they weren't spammy. They were weird. You had no choice but to visit the website to find out what the fuck it was about.

You could probably find someone willing to do the same at any university. Send them 1000 postcards and tell them to put them under dorms until they run out. Could tell them to hit up Freshman only dorms first.

I'm pretty sure there are agencies for this kind of work. Think of all the fast food flyers that go under dorm room doors.

I don't recall there being a central discussion forum that the whole school used when I was there. Departments and classes had their own collab boards especially with online classes etc. This type of stuff required you to be enrolled to use and had to login to the college etc. Some profs used Facebook even. There are popular forums for the big schools and classes on some public sites though I'm sure.

Did any of you have public discussion boards outside of the college/class network? Maybe look at advertising on Facebook groups and subreddits for specific schools. Are those "rate your professors" sites still crazy popular? Maybe ads on sites like that would work too. Pitching the school newspaper writers editors etc is a very creative idea suggested above. Also maybe some ads on popular local job search or university-centric job search sites. If they are looking for part time cash they likely want to save cash as well.

You can find kids willing to disburse marketing material at their school on fiverr. There are a few people who have posted a gig stating they will do it, but you can get a ton more people by posting in the request gigs section. I use the request gigs all the time to find people to do odd jobs for me. I have done this before on fiverr with college campuses and got a good amount of people willing to do it from Fiverr.

Craigslist is also an option.

I have a site that's of value to college aged kids - or anyone in school really.

Just wondering if anyone has any out of the box ideas for reaching college kids that are interested in saving money?

I've tried a few press releases with decent results but I want to go directly to college kids - anyone have any advice?

BTW it's a "brand" type site, so that opens a few options.

There are huge ass Facebook groups in each school.

I got to an Uni so I know a ton of kids. It would be super easy to set up an campaign by getting them post shit on those facebook pages.

Another option is starting a viral facebook page for those schools.

PM me if you want to let me know what you are doing, I might be able to help you. I go to a large Canadian University.

Make a FB page, utilize a Twitter account, troll Instagram, girls love Pinterest...or you can physically attend college parties & show them how they can save $$ to spend more on intoxicants

Solid shit. I've got a few buddies who are still in college so I could even get a few of them to do this I bet.

Have a very solid opp doing SpringBreak package trips...PM me if you want to discuss more as this fits your demo nicely!

PMing.

Good idea. Tried Fiverr a few times for this kind of thing but with limited results. Problem is it's impossible to verify whether or not the work is getting done, but worth a few more tries I suppose.

I like the idea of relying heavily on "free" social marketing/networking, might be one of the main components I need to be focusing on. Thanks for the idea.
