Billing / Invoicing

I'm offering a new service to a few clients that involve reoccurring payments. To this point I've put together an invoice with Word and collected their checks. I'm looking for a payment system where I can collect their information and bill them regularly.

I've looked into Paypal's subscriptions but want more than one option just in case.

What do you use to bill your clients?

Do you invoice + wait for the payment or use a gateway that charges directly?

What problems have you come across with charging monthly/quarterly/yearly fees?

I use Blinksale, check it out, might be enough for what you need. It creates Paypal invoices and can do recurring payments.

I use Quickbooks merchant services. You can set it up to automatically rebill customers weekly/monthly or whatever. I think I pay like $17/mo, + $0.23 authorization fee per transaction, + ~1.95%.
