Bitcoin hits $100

Has anyone used Bitinstant successfully in the past 48h?

I did a MtGox coupon -> PayPal transfer and it failed because they had "insufficient funds". Contacted support multiple times and no response, they usually fix it in a couple hours...

Schiff is wavering... I don't know why. But he didn't have any problem whatsoever letting Tom Woods host his show recently and do a half hour special teaching people to use bitcoin:

(This is an incredibly good introduction to bitcoin, by the way. Bookmark it to use in the future whenever a bitcoin noob has any questions.)

Dude, you're arguing a different thing.

You said that $1.4 billion USD in exact currency, was moved into BTC.

That is not true.
Well, I didn't say "exact currency," but I guess in the strictest terms, you guys are correct. You win.

Productionhead, MacG, and illeat, you guys were right. I cracked open some econ books today and got to the bottom of this... And my added meaning of the origin of value was nowhere in sight... Seems weird to me, but I had better face the music...

So I officially take this time to concede my point; the value that a market cap is representing isn't necessarily the sum of all net payments... It's just a representation of what they're worth now.

Perhaps I should have originally said: "If that's so, then why is bitcoin now valued at $1.4 BILLION."

There you go, I admit it: I was in error.

Congratulations to you all.

If you guys are going make a t-shirt design, something like "I beat lukep in a debate on wickedfire!" -I'll throw in a couple of bitcents to help your printing costs.

Does anyone know if Vircurex got hacked or not?

It'd be really painful if it got hacked!
It wasn't a Hack, it was a DDos.

Attention: Mt.Gox, BTC-E, & Vircurex all have been suffering
DDos Attacks constantly the last couple of days.

Naturally some in the BTC community is blaming the US Gov, but it could just as well be hackers wanting to control the price of bitcoin somehow... Either way, now is the time when bitcoin's general security will be forced to step up, or bitcoin itself won't survive. Interesting times indeed.

Looks like some folks around here haven't been keeping up with my blog: How to buy Bitcoins ...Pity. Would have save you some time. (Although in mGrunin's case he'd probably want to keep it on an exchange so it can be traded at will... For that there are no good answers right now with all these DDos attacks.)

The lack of a physical location does not inspire confidence.
Funny you should say that about Mt.Gox: Mt.Gox moves to Silicon Valley - ars technica

Here's something pretty interesting I just learned (a week late) on the bitcointalk forum... Apparently this video was released and spread around to cyprus during their hell week, a week ago:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMAI-OIxLPo]Zhou Tonged - Cyprus Anthem (Swedish House Mafia - Don't You Worry Child) - YouTube[/ame]

This artist has done pretty cheezy stuff for bitcoin in the past, but this was actually really, surprisingly good.

I wonder how much of a difference it made in bitcoin's price? 11k views in a week, but the song is in English. :/

Crypto-trade.com is launching shortly. Hope it'll be good :D

Silicon valley vc's want to get involved to create bitcoin atms and other applications
