Bomb at Boston Marathon

Are there any reports on the cause of the explosion? That gif shadowcaster posted looked like it was near the finish line, is that where it happened? I cant imagine how someone could have planted something there with all the security.

Prayers go to the the victims and their families. For the sake of the nation I hope this turns out not to be an intentional act.
 


clearly a bomb, although the report will say a device designed to move air rapidly.

My friend was at the finish line today, but left about 30 mins before the explosions to meet his family. He's not in front of a computer or TV, but asked me to confirm something he heard about a third explosion / fire at the Boston Public Library. I see no news about it, so probably not true. He's also telling me he's unable to send texts successfully because the cell towers are being inundated with messages right now. But that could part of a government response plan rather than too many messages.

I heard that the library was a mechanical fire... What the fuck still... Boston is a fucking target for terrorists...
 
The news reported the third explosion was a controlled explosion- police were blowing up a suspicious backpack.
