Yeah but MSNBC also has show hosts like Joe Scarborough and Tucker Carlson
to help slant it the other way. At least their slantedness sort of gets balanced out in the end. Everything on Fox news seems to be slanted only one way.
But this is the new face of news. News is no longer about jouranlism in the traditional sense. It's about profits which means getting ratings is the highest priority. Fox news is just moving in the new direction a bit more unabashedly than most other news organizations.

Well I don't think they are as far right as Olbermann is far left. But Olbermann's just there to try to be a competitor for O'Reilly. I'm pretty sure he's in the same time slot. It's all pretty much going to crap no matter what network you talk about.
They were reporting the Miss USA story the other day all day long like it was actually news. Who really gives a fuck if this bimbo gets to keep her crown or not? And like the next day there was the Rosie Odonnel, Donald Trump fallout where they got into a personal name calling contest. This shit would never have been mistaken for real news even 10 years ago. Now it's all blurring together. I personally blame Oprah. I'm not sure why I blame her, I just tend to blame all our cultural ills on Oprah because no one's been able to prove me wrong yet.

Whether he's a good competitor was not my point. I believe that's their strategy. That's why he's always going out of his way to pick fights with O'Reilly and O'Reilly just ignores him more or less because he would be playing into their hands.
But actually you're playing into their hands as well. Because, I've been reading your posts like a motherfucker lately(and learning a lot, man, I gotta say thanks), I know that you know how important niches are. O'reilly's already got the niche on the right. If Olbermann can take pretty much the polar opposite view and try doing it in a way that rallies the like minded to his side and pisses the people off on the other side, then he may be able to carve himself a niche as well. I mean, we're talking about him aren't we? I think it's because he's amped up his ultra left rhetoric fairly recently. I didn't even know he was that big of a lefty until recently. He used to not be very partisan at all.
