Hmm, so I would need to have a legitimate business address in those states? I want to target NY and CA because that's where a lot of my customers come from, but I run an internet business with no fixed office address. I live on a tropical island and hire people from freelance sites, rather than having an office with employees.

Please advise.

I had Broland work on a local biz site with me last year and the results were almost immediate in the SERPS (as immediate as SEO can be). He's also incredibly generous with his time and I've got to say that he probably provides some of the best customer service I've ever gotten' from a service provider.

I've been thinking of getting back into offering SEO services to local businesses, like I did in the past, and if I decide to go down that route I won't hesitate to put their sites under Broland's care.

The bottom line is Broland knows local SEO. 'Nuff Said.

Both. Citations are used by google as a big ranking factor G+ local (Places) listings.

These business profiles also build trust/authority allowing other link building efforts to be more effective. The links are a good mix of dofollow and nofollow on authority sites that get traffic. The listings stick, rank for local terms and grow with age. - I'll have more about this on a post tomorrow.

Does this help a business move up in the local serp rankings? For example, I have a client thats always 7-8 in the local results and I have always assumed its because he's on the outskirts of town. All the businesses ranking above him are closer to the city center. How big of an impact is location? Can a package like this help the google local ranking for his actual business website?

Yes it does. The proximity of the business to the center of the city searched is a big ranking factor, but it is just one of many many factors. Have 2 sites - one targets the US, the other targets the UK - both are my legit businesses (web design and it security) - and I operate both from Eastern Europe. Both have US and UK phone numbers, though. What can you do?
