Burning Shit like MKV to DVD

Okay so I've been downloading a ton of movies lately (illegally). I need you guys to recommend software I can use (and steal) to burn these movies illegally to a dvd that will play in a standard dvd player. Illegally.

Seems like everyone is using this MKV format now, and its hard to find straight up ISO files to download.

I'm not very good when it comes to all this shit. I'm just a common thief.

I tried avi2dvd and it didn't work for shit. I've installed and uninstalled more codec packs than I care to admit. I even had to do a system restore once cause one pack fucked everything up.

I would really appreciate your software suggestions. Also if you could come over and hold my hand and hum to me softly as we burn MKV files to DVD, that would be ideal.

Thank you.

i used to use total video converter, easy to use and supports most file formats

although if i remember correctly, mkv is a container rather than an actual video format

if you have a ps3, use mkv2vob and put it on a USB stick or stream it to the ps3, works up to full blu ray quality flawlessly

I cbf'ed burning dvd anymore, just get a media player and stream it from there. You should be able to pick up something like Compro NMC1000 Media Player | Compare Prices & Save shopping in Australia even cheaper in the States.

I have that particular model, and don't actually recommend it for media buffs cause it is kind of klunky, but it beats the hell out of screwing around with dvds. I have it hooked up to a 4TB NAS, but you can put a hard drive or usb memory stick in it and play from there.

The best way to take an MKV to DVD is get a program called TSmuxer (its free just google it) and then download IMGburn (also free).

Run the TSmuxer on the mkv file and it will produce a perfectly formatted AVI file to burn.

I have burned several movies this way.

What sites do you guys use to find movies? rapidsharemovies.org is a good one.

warez-bb.org ftw.

mkv is just a container, usually the videos are h264 and the audio is AC3 or DTS...Most MKV releases are HD releases though, normal DVDRips are still avi...Get a media player, or a cheap little computer, the WD HD TV thing is pretty cool, especially for the price, but it cannot decode DTS, so you need to manually do that on the computer before trying to watch it, but that's really simple too. much easier than DVDs...

encoding .avi and .mkv files and burning movies to DVD takes forever and isn't worth it IMO.. does your TV have USB support?

Why waste time and DVDs? Just get something like the xtreamer - Xtreamer Pro

I've got one, and have yet to find a format that it doesn't play.

why the fuck would you down-convert MKV to shitty ass dvd quality? normally MKV is used for Blueray rips or other HD content. If you are just going to put it in a shitty ass dvd player dont download MKV in the first place, download the DVD copies or xvid rips and upconvert them to dvd. Also I gotta agree with greenlee. fuck a dvd player. either stream it or build a media center PC that hooks straight to your television. Store all your movies on a HDD instead of shitty scratchable media that costs much more per gig than a HDD does.

is there a way to burn to dvd so it actually has menus and stuff? all mine are just avis but i could of sworn i've seen burned dvds with menus and options.

I don't burn them to DVD for myself, its just that some of my friends and relatives aren't that tech savvy and depend on me to provide them with bootlegs. If I could find the straight up DVD rips I would, but for a lot of things it seems I can only find the giant MKV files.

Thanks for all the input.
