I've been looking for a sample business plan for internet marketing but have fallen short. Anyone know of one our there that would be a good guide?

Ya, don't ask anything here that even remotely might be related to business or something that actually requires knowledge of marketing or how to run a business. Just waste of time. I promise you'll get some great answers from our very own leading guys like engaged or chrislinge...

Go build more sites.. now where's my thumbs up pic..

Bah...I knew this would be a wash. I will just start one from scratch.

Seriously though, I went through this route by starting a business plan and such, but nothing really came of it because i was focusing way too much time on the logistics part of the business, rather than actually focusing on what was important, making money.

You say you need a business plan to take out money. For what? Employees? Office space?

Being an internet marketer affords you the luxury to NOT have those expenses.

Perhaps he's looking for a business plan to get small business loans from banks, friends, or relatives... sure, you can say "just go build" but if you have startup money you're in a lot better shape.

Main problem is that business plans are usually 70 pages or so, with cash flow statements predicted for the first year and such. From the standpoint of an IM, this is impossible to predict.

I would reccommend writing a two-page executive summary and using it as a resource with specific opportunities you plan on exploiting

If you want to impress people so they will fund you, make it out like the plans are already in movement even if they aren't. Avoid the future tense...

Bad:
Lead by Yoda, the sales force WILL :error:simply kick ass jedi style to obtain monies.

Better:
Lead by Yoda, the sales force obtains monies by simply kicking ass jedi style.

I don't need to take out money but I want to because that means with in 3rd month I can pay back the loan in full and quit my day job to do this full time.

I'm doing great and have been from the start but due to personal financial restraints it will take me until March-April before I hit my 1st big goal. If I took out a small loan I can hit that goal in January allowing me to quit my job in february.

All I plan on doing is taking out a small loan and triple that in a month and reinvest it all back in for the second month and paying the small loan off in the 3rd month and that would allow me to quit my job.

I wouldn't be working on a business plan if I didn't want to get the loan. All I need it for is to look good on paper, that's all. I have my goals set and a structured business plan is not how I get shit done.

I have already started and have plenty of data already collected to show what and where I project my "business" (if that's what you want to call it) will go.

I think I will just use that data and write a two page exec summary like you suggest. It should be enough.

wow, you are running before you can walk...

It's not like I'm going to take out a 50k loan and try to triple it a month. I'm not that fucking stupid. I know my limits and what I can safely turn with in a month.

Xrproto, would it be easier just to build up some business credit and get some small business cards via amex or citibank to finance your endeavors?

Being an internet marketer is all about not giving a shit about office clothes, working hours (it just needs to be a number of hours a day), taking your lunch break whenever the fuck you want, scratching whereever you want for how long you damn well please and looking at all the naked chicks your bandwidth can supply you with.

Just make sure you also get something done in the meantime.

Business plan???
Yeah... here's mine:
1. Quit job or whatever
2. ???
3. PROFIT <- I am here :anon.sml:

xproto - since I am supposed to say something dumb here according to macfly here ya go, YOU DON'T NEED NO STINKIN MONEY! seriously though I would look at getting credit cards instead of going to a bank. Would be alot easier if you only need a few grand.

Well that's not an option and I don't think I'm going to the bank anymore.

I've never had a credit card & couldn't get one if I tried right now. With a string of bad luck and a shit load of medical bills my credit went to shit years ago. I also hate borrowing money and for now I'm sticking to my March-April target goals.

if you are doing anything other than affiliate or arb it would be really stupid not to have a biz plan. really really really really stupid. please if you can spend and hour playing playstation or eating lunch a day you have more than enough time to make a good plan. a plan does NOT have to be 70+ pages and have a shit load of financial projections- you can build a nice outline that will be less than 20 pages and at least set you in your path by giving you an exact plan that you plan to stick to.

good luck getting a biz loan if you do not have one btw! getting a low interest credit card might be the easiest thing...

no it is not somethign you need to have - but my god, if you are too fucking lazy to make and set a plan for yourself you will not make it for long without doing somethign than making arb pages all day. think long term and not the next year of your life.

if anyone trades on this forum- how many people do you know who've made it without actually spending the time to create entry/exit, and risk mgt plans??? simply reacting to the way things are right now is shortsighted- yeah it might work now with the market in your favor, but what's going to happen when things stop working tomorrow?

even with arb and aff a plan would come in handy- how will you diversify your holdings? what sectors are you going to focus on? when will you cut your campaigns when they look like they aren't working? how much will you spend on reinvesting in the campaigns vs. what you will take out in salary? how much cash will you have on hand to cushion you in case there is a few months/year where you make little to no income? there are a ton of things you should think about.

yes I am a noob at this biz, but I am going to take it as seriously as any other job I have ever had.

i really have found Inc.com | Entrepreneur Info - Small Business Resources - Small Business Information to be the best resource for small biz - take a look at building basic biz plans.

by the way- I have a feeling that there are many peeps on here still in college- dont' listen to their bs. when I was in college I could care less about two months out, much less 5 years- but if you are going to do this for a living and you don't want to spend it in your parents basement any goals you have for yourself should be taken seriously.

ok- enough of this- need to go read theonion or something and loosen up..
